The Work You Will Do:

This professional position reports to the Chief of Human Resources and is responsible for guiding the daily operations of the Human Resources office, providing supervision and direction/consultation to Human Resources staff.  The incumbent in this position is also responsible for maintaining the agency’s organizational structure including organizational relationships, job classification and position attributes.
 

Minimum Requirements:

 

  • Five (5) years of work experience in a Human Resources' Office; AND
  • Working knowledge of processes and policies regarding Compensation, Organizational Management, Recruitment and Selection, and Payroll.
  • Three (3) years management experience.

 

*** Preference will be given to applicants who have three (3) or more years of State Personnel Human Resource experience. 

 

** A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university can substitute for four (4) years of HR experience or an associate degree from an accredited college can substitutes for two (2) years of HR experience

Position Notes:
 

  • Supervises staff in the areas of recruitment, classification and pay, and payroll and benefits. 
  • Reviews all agency requests for reclassification, position transfers or re-organization for concurrence with Florida Statutes, Florida Administrative Code, and collective bargaining units, and processes for approval as appropriate.  Provides direction and consultation to agency management and other personnel and recommends solutions.
  • Acts as liaison with Department of Management Services (DMS), Division of State Human Resource Management on requested organization changes/position reclassifications, and rule or policy clarifications.
  • Participates in investigations into allegations of harassment, discrimination, and/or retaliation as necessary.
