Duties and Responsibilities
The Senior Data Base Analyst reports to the Oracle Services Manager, Data Base Administrator-SES.  This position functions as an integral member of the Enterprise Data Management Services team and will operate as a Data Base Administrator (DBA) for the department’s Oracle databases.  The incumbent will perform database administration on Oracle versions 11g,12c, 19c and 23ai.  Duties will include but aren’t limited to assisting and supporting database users, analyzing, coordinating and implementing new database requests and systems, and monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving database issues.  This position will also establish database standards, and procedures that will optimize database architectures, reliability, and performance for all Department application environments.This position requires exceptional leadership, technical and analysis skills. The successful candidate must have the ability to communicate effectively, precisely and accurately across all levels of the organization.  The ideal candidate would be able to form, express, and defend reasoned opinions, with a spirit of collaboration and problem solving.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience in Oracle 12c and 19c database administration
  • Experience working in Unix operating systems
  • Knowledge of Oracle Multitenant Database Architecture
  • Experience administering Oracle databases
  • Experience with Oracle software installation, patching, and upgrading
  • Ability to work independently and to resolve complex issues
  •  Ability to effectively diagnose, isolate, and resolve complex problems pertaining to data infrastructure
  • Ability to write Stored Procedures, Functions, Packages and Database Triggers
  •  Ability to Tune SQL and PL/SQL performance
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Operational support skills, including experience with system installations, migrations and upgrades
  • Knowledge of data synchronization technologies (Informatica etc.)
  • Knowledge of Unix shell scripting
  • Knowledge of Oracle Server database administration
  • Experience with Oracle Backup and Recovery
  • Experience in logical database design and data models
  • Understanding of the software development lifecycle process
  • Practical experience in monitoring and tuning databases to provide a high availability service
  •  Ability to maintain current on tools, methodologies, and technologies related to data administration
  • Knowledge of data privacy and protection initiatives
  • Strong interpersonal skills to resolve problems in a professional manner
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical data processing information verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work well in a team environment, and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
  • Ability to receive and give constructive criticism, and maintain effective working relationships with others


Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to applicants with professional experience in the following:

  • Five plus years of experience working as Oracle database administrator
  • Developing Oracle database driven applications
  • Administering Oracle 12c,19c databases and database infrastructure on RAC Databases 
  • Working knowledge of Oracle Multi-Tenant Architecture
  • Writing stored procedures and PL/SQL programming
  • Logical database design and data modeling
  • Writing Unix/Linux Scripts for Database maintenance
  • A bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college/university in one of the computer sciences or in management information systems (or)
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (or)
  • Completion of a two-year program of study from a vocational/technical school or accredited community college in an area of data processing (excluding data entry

 

Job Related Requirements

  • The selected applicant must pass a Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) criminal history background check.  
  • This position includes a regularly assigned (approximately one week a month) 24-7 on-call requirement. You may also be required to work after hours on occasion, including nights and weekends.
  • This position is telework eligible.
