High school diploma or its equivalent is required.

 

 

Additional requirements:

  • Current employee within the Department of Financial Services.
  • One (1) year of accounting experience with the State of Florida.
  • FLAIR experience processing revenue transactions.
  • Experience processing bad debt payments (Debit Memos).
  • CODA data entry keying experience.
  • Retrieving, reviewing and analyzing PALM reports.

 

 

Preference:

 

  • Postsecondary degree in Accounting or Business from an accredited college or university.

 

 

This position requires a security background check, including fingerprint as a condition of employment.

 

 

Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

 

  • Advanced level work, independently analyzing, reconciling, and posting Debit Memos, Chargebacks, ACH Settlements for returned eChecks and Credit Card payments in Cashier’s Office Deposit Automation system (CODA), FLAIR and Florida PALM.
  • Access to Florida PALM to identify and acknowledge Debit Memo entries.
  • Research delinquent account inquiries from internal and external parties.
  • Communicate with internal & external customers regarding dishonored payments in a timely manner.
  • Accurately and timely maintains Bad Debt Accounts in the Bad Check Website of CODA.
  • Prepares and mails dishonored payment letters to customers and business areas.
  • Work with assigned revenue staff members to provide necessary details to send to collections for transactions not satisfied within the deadlines outlined in Florida Statute 17.20.
  • Assist with the daily workload and workflow in Receipts (Keying & Opening Mail, processing checks, coding, validating receipts in CODA, FLAIR or PALM).
  • Analyze and Audit data provided from business areas prior to Updating Vendor Statewide with the necessary information for refunds.
  • Approve/Reject/Cancel all refund requests received from business area Refund Clerks in the Cashier’s Office Deposit Automation (CODA) internal subsystem.
  • Analyze, Reconcile, and Verify all refund warrants received, and vouchers coincide prior to updating CODA and mailing warrant to customer.
  • Conduct a review and reconciliation of outstanding warrants upon receipt of the monthly report from the Revenue and Reporting Unit. Notify the appropriate business areas of any outstanding warrants so they can initiate outreach to their customers
  • Assisting with the logging and monitoring of checks held for research, via excel spreadsheet
  • Serve as back-up in absence of Lead Worker in the Cashier’s Office.
  • Monitor and update as needed the associated desk procedures to ensure relevant processes are current.
  • Verify accuracy of data and the necessity of submitting records for Archiving.
  • Performs other related duties as required by supervisor.
