Duties and Responsibilities
This is a highly professional, responsible and independent position that will serve as the Senior Professional Account within the Accounts Receivable Office of the Bureau of Accounting. The incumbent is responsible for approximately one billion dollars in departmental receipts annually. Specific duties and responsibilities include daily preparation and depositing of departmental receipts annually, including journal transfers and bank deposits; coding and entering deposits into the appropriate accounts in the Florida Accounting Information Resource (FLAIR); monitoring unreconciled deposits via the Unreconciled Deposits Report in Florida PALM (Florida Planning, Accounting, and Ledger Management) and the Cash Receipts Utilities (CP) screen in FLAIR; auditing and distributing Clerk of Courts Revenue received from Department of Revenue daily; assigning deposit numbers for the Highway Safety Operating Trust Fund (HSOTF) and preparing/entering transactions for amounts due from Tax Collectors, Private Tag Agencies, and Agency Field Offices; reconciling credit card and ACH payments against the NIC payment system, PayIT and Catalis daily reports; and processing access requests/changes to the Cash Receipt System (CRS) and quarterly review of system access.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilitites
- Knowledge of State of Florida accounting policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of reconciliation procedures.
- Skill in communicating effectively with internal and external customers, verbally and in writing.
- Skill in processing transactions in FLAIR.
- Skill in auditing, reviewing, reconciling, or analyzing data for compliance with regulatory requirements, policies, and procedures.
- Skill in preparing and maintaining a variety of accurate and complete accounting reports.
- Skill in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage completing deadlines.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize.
- Ability to use sound judgment to identify problems, generate and evaluate alternative solutions, and make recommendations.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
- Ability to work well independently yet cohesively within the section to maintain internal control measures.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least two (2) years of experience auditing, reviewing/analyzing and reconciling financial data.
- Experience in processing transactions in FLAIR (i.e., CR -Cash Receipts, CP – Cash Receipts Utilities)
- Experience with Microsoft Excel.
