Minimum Biweekly Rate of Pay: $1,758.38 bi-weekly (In accordance with current spending restrictions, if the appointment is an internal promotion, the position will be filled at the minimum of the pay grade or up to 5% of the employee’s current rate, whichever higher).

DESCRIPTION:
The Department of Juvenile Justice is seeking a Senior Professional Accountant for the Accounts Receivable Cash Receipting Unit working with daily revenue received via mail, ACH, credit card payments and other forms of monetary receipt (journal transfers and sales tax)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position will accept, post, research and reconcile revenue received daily.
The work activities include processing money received for cost of care payments, background screening and miscellaneous items. It also includes phone calls, email and mail correspondence, Interaction with internal and external customers. Works with MIS team an provide information to the collection agents as needed.
Post all WTF deposits in QuickBooks.
Post interest distribution in QuickBooks.
Process all debit memos.
Performs detailed analysis of transactions posted in FLAIR as required.
Perform monthly reconciliation of collection payments received from collection agents.
Assist in sample audit of the monthly billing file.
Other duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of State of Florida accounting policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of reconciliation procedures.
- Skill in communicating effectively with internal and external customers, verbally and in writing.
- Skill in auditing, reviewing, reconciling, or analyzing data for compliance with regulatory requirements, policies, and procedures.
- Skill in preparing and maintaining a variety of accurate and complete accounting reports.
- Skill in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage completing deadlines.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize.
- Ability to use sound judgment to identify problems, generate and evaluate alternative solutions, and make recommendations.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
- Ability to work well independently yet cohesively within the section to maintain internal control measures.
PREFERRED MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Preference will be given to candidates with banking experience and cost of care experience.
