This advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Central Office in the Office of Finance & Accounting, Accounts Payable.

 

Salary: $50,146.46 Annual Rate

SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The incumbent in this position is responsible for the processing of revenue generating contracts and agreements. Duties may include but will not be limited to the following:

  • Receives, reviews, and approves revenue generating contracts and agreements for input into the computerized accounting system. Prepares invoices ensuring accuracy, proper certification, and tracks receipts. Codes receipts for input when necessary. Inputs source documents into the computerized accounting system when necessary. Reviews deposits and related accounting entries.
  • Maintains accounts receivable subsidiary ledgers to ensure they are an accurate reflection of obligations to the department. Audits financial records to ensure that they are current, complete, and accurate and that all significant data has been recorded and is fairly stated.  Reviews accounting records and prepares adjusting entries as necessary.
  • Develops operational recommendations and corrective action plans for management to implement as a result of analysis and review of the accounting data, and internal audit reports, and applicable accounting and administrative internal controls. This includes assisting in the implementation of the plan and follow up of the plan to ensure compliance with recommendations.
  • Reconciles transactions on an as-needed basis. Prepares and submits all required reports in a timely, accurate manner. Provides any additional documentation as requested. Assures that all background documentation is complete.
  • Responds to inquiries for information or accounting data from staff, vendors, auditors, and other internal/external customers.
  • Assists the liaison between program areas and Department of Financial Services and third-party debt collections agency; directs courses of action regarding write-off and debt collection action.
  • Assists in the submission of receivables to third party debt collections agency as required.
  • Assist in production of annual reports as required by Florida Statute, quarterly revenue collection report, and other reports as requested by management or outside parties.
  • Assists the FL PALM’s implementation tasks related to the Revenue Section are timely addressed. It includes but not limited to respond internal and external request, testing, training, and update of processes.
  • Performs other related duties as required, including special projects.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Two (2) years of governmental revenue accounting experience.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Revenue accounting experience within the State of Florida.
  • Experience with FLAIR revenue transactions.
  • Experience with the debt collection process within the State of Florida.
