What Will I Be Doing?

The Sr. Program Manager will be responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of multiple concurrent projects ensuring consistency with agency strategies, commitments and goals.  This Sr. Program Manager will also provide leadership, coaching and guidance to project teams on the use of project management tools and techniques to ensure that departmental policies, procedures, guidelines and best practices are being followed.


Can I be successful?  (Key Skills)

  • Skilled in the practice of project management.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of applications (including Microsoft Project), familiar with multiple project management technology tools (preferably the Daptiv portfolio management web tool)
  • Proficiency in project management principles, methods, techniques and tools for the effective management of projects from initiation through project closure.
  • Ability to facilitate medium to large groups of people at various organizational levels for the purposes of planning, problem solving, or strategy development.
  • Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
  • Skilled in the practice of large-scale system implementations.
  • Goal oriented, action focused, pragmatic and self-disciplined
  • Excellent at project planning, organizing, verbal and written communication, teaching and presentations
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and projects
  • Knowledge of both theoretical and practical aspects of project management
  • Strong analytical, problem solving skills


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in project management principles, methods, techniques and tools as defined by the Project Management Institute (PMI).
  • Experience performing progressive project management.
  • Experience using Microsoft Project and/or project management technology tools.


Job- Related Requirements:

  • The position requires the incumbent to be a certified Project Management Professional (PMP).
  • The position you are applying is subject to a Level 2 background and CJIS security clearance, to include fingerprinting as a condition of employment pursuant to Chapter 110.1127, 435 and 943, Florida Statutes.  As an applicant for positions requiring CJIS security clearance, you are required to disclose criminal records that have been sealed or expunged.


General Information:

The elements of the selection process may include a skill assessment and/or oral interview.

Applicants being considered for employment will be required to submit to a fingerprint-based background investigation, which will include a check of the criminal history records of the FBI.

HSMV employees are paid once a month on the last workday of each month.  All state employees are required to participate in the direct deposit program pursuant to s. 110.113 Florida Statutes.
