JOB SUMMARY: This is a Senior Revenue Administrator – SES (Legislative Coordinator) position located in Property Tax Oversight (PTO) program's Compliance Assistance process.
Are you passionate about legislative analysis and skilled at translating complex legislation into effective programs? The Florida Department of Revenue is seeking a seasoned professional to lead the legislative coordination efforts within our Property Tax Oversight (PTO) Program.
As the Legislative Coordinator, you’ll serve at the heart of the program’s legislative process—analyzing, interpreting, and implementing impactful legislation. This role requires advanced analytical capabilities, exceptional communication skills, and a deep understanding of statutory interpretation and administrative law.
This position’ s responsibilities include:
- Lead the PTO bill analysis review team and coordinate legislative monitoring activities
- Develop and review legislative proposals, bill analyses, technical amendments, and implementation plans
- Collaborate with subject matter experts across PTO to evaluate and advise on legislative feasibility and policy alignment
- Research and interpret laws, rules, case law, and agency guidance impacting Florida’s property tax system
- Assist with rulemaking and support interpretive policy development related to property tax statutes
- Liaise with Research & Analysis and the Office of Tax Research on data-related legislative needs
- Deliver executive briefings, training materials, and communications for county officials and stakeholders
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Two or more years of relevant professional experience with the State of Florida’s legislative process.
- Three or more years of relevant professional experience with the State of Florida’s laws, rules, and procedures.
- Strong research, writing, and analytical skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
- Proficiency in developing briefing documents and legislative reports.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, discretion, and independence in decision-making.
- Experience working collaboratively across interdisciplinary teams.
SUBSTITUTIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher can substitute for four years of experience.
PREFERENCES:
- Experience with State of Florida rulemaking process.
- Experience with legislative bill drafting.
- Experience performing legislative bill analyses.
SPECIAL NOTES:
- This is a Tallahassee based position and will not be eligible for telework.
SALARY: $72,000.00 - $75,000.00.
