DESCRIPTION:
This position is responsible for server, desktop and network support which includes installing, configuring, and supporting local area networks (LAN) and the wide area network (WAN). This position maintains all computer hardware and software, laptops, and network equipment at multiple sites in the Central Region. This position is also responsible for monitoring the network to ensure network availability to all system users and will perform necessary maintenance to support network availability. Incumbents may also assist other support staff to plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Cloud Computing
Lead on developing, administering, and testing of agency cloud services.
Liaison with third party vendors on matters of computing.
Assist with group policies and scripting for the enterprise infrastructure network.
Coordinate technical work of Network Project teams in systems planning studies; information needs assessments and systems analysis, reviewing approaches and methods to assess effectiveness in meeting management objectives.
Infrastructure Planning and Design (Technical architect for a statewide-distributed client/server information technologies)
Assist in the design, planning, and implementation of Web, SharePoint, local area networks, and related personal computers for the department's information system.
Serves as a consult to the Chief of Information Technology to evaluate and provide information system requirements and necessary resources.
Capacity and Systems Planning in support of Information Systems
Support and troubleshoot technical work supporting the Microsoft Exchange Messaging Services (Office 365) for the Department.
Serve as backup for coordinating of the Microsoft Windows Software update Services.
Help coordinate and administer Virtual Private Network (VPN) services.
Establish system priorities and allocation of available resources and capacity for IT.
Analyze agency data requirements and effects of interactive computer-oriented systems.
Serve as consult to higher lever manages in the planning of major systems.
Project Coordination and Project Management
Responsible for coordination of Bureau of Information Technology's network systems infrastructure projects teams.
Provides both technical and project leadership to workgroup teams.
Responsible for ensuring that project plans are created, and the plans adhere to all Information System Development Methodology and schedules indicated in the project plan.
Responsible for ensuring the Bureau of Information Technology maintains a Standard Operating Procedure Manual for Network Operations.
Disaster Recovery Planning and Testing
Assist in the development and test recovery plans for disasters (i.e., large-scale loss of information technology resources and data), including events such as power outages and small data losses.
Ensure preparation and maintenance of procedures to provide a 'Continuity of Operations Plan' for information systems that support the operations and assets of the Department.
Risk Mitigation and Audit Support
Periodically perform risk analysis and security audits to test and evaluate the overall effectiveness of the Department's information security program and policies.
Assist and provide information as requested to both the DJJ Inspector General and State Auditor General for conducting audits.
Customer Service and External Liaison Support
Provide customer assistance on performance, network capacity issues and network infrastructures issues.
Provide assistance to agency staff, partners and providers.
Assures customer needs are met.
Schedule necessary server operations to ensure proper implementation and operational processing procedures are performed.
Serve as team leader and provide supervision for assigned network computing staff.
Participates in periodic meetings of Information Security Managers to discuss and share strategies for addressing enterprise security related issues.
Administrative Activities
Complete transfer, relocation, surplus, and other required documentation for Headquarters inventory.
Submit required documents to the Bureau of Information Technology concerning but not limited to: travel; purchasing card; properties; timesheets and other documents as required.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of the principles and techniques utilized in developing telecommunications systems.
Knowledge of the methods of collecting and analyzing data.
Knowledge of telecommunications and related equipment.
Ability to plan and coordinate the development of telecommunications systems.
Ability to collect, review and analyze data. Ability to prepare cost estimates.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Ability to develop specifications for procuring equipment.
Ability to utilize problem- solving techniques.

Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in the following areas:
Detecting, monitoring, and mediating various aspects of security—including physical security, software security, and network security.
Performing compliance control testing.
Developing recommendations and training programs to minimize security risk in the company.
Staying current with evolving threats in cybersecurity space by communicating with external sources.
Collaborating with other teams and management within a company to implement best security practices.
