SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- This position is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing internal and strategic communications of the Department's Office of Communications.
- Serves as a Regional Communications Coordinator (RCC) liaison regarding known digital media best practices, department branding, and emerging trends for all program areas, regions, institutions, and offices.
- Creates and disseminates the Department’s statewide in-house publications.
- Collect and process relevant information in the appropriate format, such as a press release, social media, web post, or other method of delivery.
- Format and edit documents, publications and presentations for program offices and department leadership.
- Staff press conference, media events, editorial boards, groundbreakings, ribbon-cuttings, bill-signings, public meetings, and media events.
- Establish an internal communications strategy in conjunction with the Department Director.
- Ensure Department initiatives and projects are successfully communicated to employees and stakeholders.
- Plan, edit and write content for a variety of internal communications mediums, such as a staff intranet, monthly deliverables, or regular email bulletin.
- Storyboard or translate ideas to the creative team.
- Deliver presentations at statewide events.
- Draft messages or scripts from leadership for presentations to employees in written or spoken form.
- Ensure internal communications messages are consistent across all mediums and for different areas of the Department.
- Ensure internal communication messages are consistent with external communication messages.
- Respond to feedback from staff and adjust communications content accordingly.
- Handle the internal communication response to crisis situations which affect organizational perception and reputation.
- Advise Executive Leadership team members of developments throughout the organization, either face to face or through regular written communication and perform other responsibilities as deemed appropriate.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Four (4) or more years of communications or media experience. Postsecondary education may substitute on a year-for-year bases for the required experience.
