Four (4) years of experience in computer science, information technology, engineering or related field is required. Additional requirements:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Microsoft Windows System Administrator.

Salary Range: $70,000.00 to $110,000.00 annually.

 

Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

Minimum Qualifications for this position include the following REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of Windows Server operating systems.
  • Knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, and Microsoft 365.
  • Knowledge of server virtualization platforms such as VMware vSphere  and Hyper-V.
  • Knowledge of best practices related to IT security.
  • Knowledge of networking protocols such as TCPIP, UDP, VPNs, VLANs.
  • Knowledge of PowerShell scripting.
  • Knowledge of Backup and Recovery tools such as Commvault or Veeam.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to problem solve and troubleshoot issues effectively.
  • Ability to pay attention to detail and proactively manage systems.
  • Ability to write procedures, guidelines, and user guides.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form.       

 

OTHER KSAs (Incumbent may learn on job):

  • Knowledge of load balancers and application delivery controller technology.
  • Knowledge of Enterprise-scale secure FTP/SFTP server platforms. 

 

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

The Microsoft Window Server Administrator (systems administrator) will be responsible for installing and configuring the Windows Server operating system, including essential roles such as Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP. They will ensure system security and stability by regularly applying operating system updates, service packs, and patches.

 

They will manage users, groups, and organizational units through Active Directory and enforced security and configuration standards using Group Policy. Regular monitoring of system logs, access reviews, and security audits were conducted to detect and prevent potential threats.

 

In terms of infrastructure management, the systems administrator will configure disk partitions, RAID setups, and storage spaces. They will implement regular backup solutions using Windows Server Backup and third-party tools, routinely testing recovery procedures for reliability.

 

They will also administer DNS and DHCP services, configured shared folders and file permissions, and managed network printers. Secure remote access was provided through VPN, Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP), and other remote solutions.

 

The systems administrator will deploy and manage virtual machines, and when required, synchronized on-premises Active Directory with Azure AD to support hybrid cloud environments. They will diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and server-related issues while providing user support for system and access problems.

 

Comprehensive documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting processes was maintained to ensure operational efficiency and continuity.
