The Work You Will Do:

 

DEP’s Office of Technology and Information Services (OTIS) is currently seeking a Systems Programmer III. This is a technical position responsible for support, design, installation, and operations of distributed network of computers running Microsoft and/or Linux server operating systems in cloud environments, with a focus on Azure and related Entra Directory software and network protocols.  This position will provide networking, computer and cloud management support through scientific methods and available tools.  The incumbent must be available to work after normal work hours, weekends, and holidays for on-call duty status.

Pay: $55,000 - $60,000

 

 

Your Specific Responsibilities:

 

  • Manage, configure, and maintain operating systems and application software for optimal performance of DEP servers and cloud systems.  Integrate Active Directory services with other systems as needed.  Ensure each system operates in compliance with IT standards, functions, methodologies, budgets, and applicable security protocols. 

 

  • Produce documentation and distribute information as needed to systems staff and users regarding computer technology developments and their impact on new and existing application systems.

 

  • Provide assistance to DEP Cybersecurity and access control resources including but not limited to Azure Active Directory access control, messaging hygiene, and remote access user management.

 

  • Participate in the research, review, evaluation, development, and implementation of cloud computer technology to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of both human and machine resources.  Includes but is not limited to reducing/avoiding costs, attending product presentations/seminars, attending software/system training to learn new skills and keep current with industry trends and practices.

 

  • Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 support for any services related to Azure Entra, Cybersecurity, Messaging, and operating system products.  Provide systems support, user provisioning, and maintenance for DEP’s systems.

 

  • Serve as a technical lead when required for technology projects including the design, configuration, tuning and managing cloud-based systems.  Advise management on new or improved technologies and practices.  Perform studies and evaluate new or enhanced information technology products.  Provide support of system and network software through diagnosis of problems and implementation of changes to resolve problems and maintain software at the most current level.  Oversee the operation of the managed systems to ensure that the data integrity is maintained, and backups are performed correctly.

 

  • Identify and meet the needs of customers to provide excellent customer service and be helpful, cooperative, polite, respectful, and courteous at all times in interactions with customers.

 

  • Perform related tasks as requested.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

 

  • Knowledge of Enterprise Active Directory and Windows Server operating systems and Linux operating systems
  • Knowledge of scripting languages such as Power Shell, VB, bat files
  • Knowledge of Azure cloud technologies and systems
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Azure Entra
  • Knowledge of PC/Server and mid-range operating systems and network topologies
  • Knowledge of Active Directory Federated Services
  • Knowledge of problem-solving techniques
  • Knowledge of network security concepts techniques and standards
  • Ability to install and configure software packages under Windows and Linux based operating systems
  • Ability to process information logically and solve problems
  • Ability to analyze and trouble shoot networked systems
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to work more than 40 hours per week, including weekends and holidays, as needed
  • Ability to travel and maintain a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs.
