SPECIAL NOTES:

Two (2) years’ experience with technical data processing is required. An associate degree from an accredited college or university or completion of a Data Processing Program from a Technical School may be used as an alternative for the required years of work experience.

 

Additional requirements:

  • At least (5) five years of z/OS systems programming experience.
  • Experience with installation and support of mainframe vendor software.
  • Experience working within the z/OS operating system environment, systems programming concepts and z/OS JCL.
  • Software diagnosis and correction.
  • Experience with Installation and support of IBM software including OMEGAMON and WebSphere.
  • Experience in any of these areas on the IBM mainframe platform:
    • Install, manage, and maintain IBM WebSphere software.
    • Install, manage, and maintain IBM Omegamon software for CICS and DB2.
    • Install, manage, and maintain BMC – DB2 utilities for use with DB2 13.1.
    • Use Omegamon and RMF software to monitor IBM z/OS lpars, CICS and DB2 regions.
    • Ability to work with RACF security software and generate reports as needed.
    • Ability to use VanGuard software to provide RACF definition reports.
    • Evaluate and recommend security and IBM z/OS environment improvements.
    • Hands-on technical troubleshooting with various mainframe vendor software.
    • Create and maintain technical documentation for the assigned environments.
  • Willing to be on call or work outside of normal working hours.

 

This is an onsite position in the Fletcher building, no remote work.

 

This position may be required to occasionally perform duties other than those listed on the position description.

 

The salary range for this position is $80,000.00 to $100,000.00 per year.

 

Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing on a technical level with both hardware/software vendors and technical staff.
  • Ability to read and comprehend technical manuals and documentation.
  • Knowledge of z/OS operating system environment, systems programming concepts and z/OS job control language.
  • Ability to independently create clear and relevant technical documentation and procedures.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

 

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

This incumbent will work daily in the installation and support of Mainframe Systems Software operating on an IBM z/OS mainframe. Incumbent will be assigned a variety of software products to install and support. These will include the following:

  1. BMC – DB2 utility suite of tools
  2. BMC Mainview for DB2
  3. BMC – Control-M
  4. IBM – OMEGAMON for CICS and DB2 monitors
  5. Broadcom – CA suite of products

 

Assist other mainframe systems software personnel, applications programmers and end users as required in the day-to-day support role.

 

Utilize the BMC – Remedy change management software to record any changes to assigned software. 

 

Diagnose software problems to assigned products and recommend or initiate corrective action.

 

Monitor computer system performance and utilization.  Modify and tune assigned software to maintain optimum system performance for the end user.

 

Maintain knowledge of current assigned software and techniques by reading manuals and on occasion using vendor self-study training.
