SPECIAL NOTES:
Two (2) years of professional work experience required. A postsecondary degree or Technical School Data Processing Program Completion may be used as an alternative for the years of experience on a year-for-year basis.
Additional requirements:
- Five (5) years of z/OS systems programming experience.
- Experience with Installation and support of mainframe vendor software.
- Experience working within the z/OS operating system environment, systems programming concepts and z/OS JCL.
- Software diagnosis and correction.
- Experience in any of these areas on the IBM mainframe platform:
- Third-party software installation for Software AG products.
- Third-party software installation for Treehouse products.
- Third-party software installation for IBI products.
- Security Management.
- Systems Backup.
- Performance Monitoring and Capacity Planning.
- Disaster Recovery.
- Willing to be on call or work outside of normal working hours.
- Experience with Installation and support of IBI software including IWAY and WebFocus and others.
This is an onsite position in the Fletcher building, no remote work.
This position requires a security background check, including fingerprint as a condition of employment.
Salary Range: $80,000.00 to $95,000.00 per year.
Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

Minimum Qualifications for this position include the following REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing on a technical level with both hardware/software vendors and technical staff.
Ability to read and comprehend technical manuals and documentation.
Experience with Installation and support of mainframe vendor software.
Experience working within the z/OS operating system environment, systems programming concepts and z/OS JCL.
Software diagnosis and correction.
Experience in any of these areas on the IBM mainframe platform:
- Third-party software installation for Software AG products
- Third-party software installation for Treehouse products
- Third-party software installation for IBI products
- Security Management
- Systems Backup
- Performance Monitoring and Capacity Planning

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
This is professional and technical work in the installation and support of systems software operating on an IBM z/OS mainframe. Incumbent may be assigned a variety of software products to install and support.
Plan, schedule, test, install and support computer operating system software and other assigned proprietary software products utilized at the Dept. of Financial Services’ Data Center (FSDC). Assist other systems software personnel, applications programmers and program product users as required.
Work with other FSDC support staff to determine operating system software requirements. Assist with the design, implementation and operation of statewide online and batch applications processed at FSDC.
Diagnose software problems and recommend or initiate corrective action.
Monitor computer system performance and utilization. Modify and tune software to maintain optimum system performance.
Maintain knowledge of current EDP Equipment, software and techniques by vendor self-study training.
