THIS IS A CAREER SERVICE POSITION.

The Agency for Persons with Disabilities works in partnership with local communities to support people with developmental disabilities in living, learning, and working in their communities. APD provides critical services and supports for customers with developmental disabilities to reach their full potential. The Agency serves people with spina bifida, autism, Down syndrome, children age 3-5 at high risk of developmental disabilities, cerebral palsy, Prader-Willi syndrome, Phelan-McDermid syndrome, and intellectual disabilities. There is no charge or co-payment for services provided through the Agency.

DIRECT DEPOSIT PROGRAM - As a condition of employment, a person appointed to a position in State government is required to participate in the Direct Deposit Program.  Rather than receiving a paper paycheck, your funds will be deposited directly into your account at your financial institution. This will be accomplished by Electronic Funds Transfer. Banks, savings and loan associations, and credit unions are eligible to accept such deposits. BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT:

It is the policy of the Florida Agency for Persons with Disabilities that applicants for employment undergo Level 2 employment screening in accordance with the requirements of Chapter 435, Florida Statutes, as a condition of employment or being permitted to serve as a volunteer.

REQUIREMENTS:

Working technical experience with designing, building, installing, configuring and supporting database servers, including:

  • Experience performing indices and stored procedure tuning
  • Experience handling security, backup and recovery of databases
  • Extensive experience with programming using SQL and Windows scripting tools
  • Database policy and procedure development
  • Strong experience with creating, scheduling and maintaining SSIS Packages

Good written and oral communication skills.

***DUTIES:

Analyze, Design, Build and implementation of SQL databases across the organization, while ensuring high levels of data availability.

Responsible for defining standards and models for database architectures for the agency. Works with application development staff to develop database architectures, coding standards, and quality assurance policies and procedures for databases.

Maintains data standards. Writes database documentations for APD systems, including data standards, procedures and definitions for the data dictionaries and the APD metadata catalog.

Creates logical data models for new database development and/or changes to existing databases. Implements data table structures, forms, reports, and queries.

Creates processes to initialize, load and scrub data. Creates scripts to initialize and load the data tables. Writes and or tunes stored queries. Monitors database system details within the SQL databases, including stored procedures and execution time. Implements efficient improvements. Works with Data Center technical staff to support and install APD database systems. Participates in disaster recovery testing.

Plans and coordinates data migration/exchange between systems (both internal and external).

Responds to and resolves database access and performance issues.

Develops, implements, and maintains change control and testing processes for modifications to production databases.

Creates or supports creation of, required reports or data extract files in response to business user needs. 

Evaluates and selects database components, including hardware, relational database management systems, ETL software, metadata management and data quality management tools, database design solutions.
