Salary is based on the State of Florida minimum pay grade for the position. Consideration may be given to an applicant’s experience, skills and available agency funds.

This position is a technical position that writes database queries and analyzes data to answer education related questions or to build reports.


The employee must have analytic skills to generate code and files for standard and ad hoc reports for internal and external customers; use analytic skills to evaluate and assist in the development and refinement of business requirements; use, develop, revise and maintain functional specifications; modify and maintain documentation for special projects, standard reports and ad hoc reports created for internal and external customers; evaluate, review and improve systems/programs to meet best practices for processing efficiency; participate in usability sessions and aid in developing usability scripts; quality control best practices to ensure accurate reporting; evaluate commonly used system queries and define, create and maintain system objects to enhance efficiencies; update and refresh data marts and reports as necessary; must design, code, test and document all reports, pre-defined queries, extracts and data sets created for users/customers; conduct version testing and prepare, store and maintain accurate and complete documentation for assignments;  responsible for version control of programs and associated documentation; must maintain detailed knowledge of metadata related to education data, including where data are stored and how these data can be accurately and efficiently retrieved; maintain detailed knowledge and skills necessary to effectively use the reporting tools necessary to retrieve and create reports using data; must maintain a positive customer/work relationship with internal and external customers through the effective use of personal and written communication in order to provide technical assistance and other services.




Knowledge of computer programming languages; analytical skills including the ability to think logically and to analyze and solve problems; knowledge of mathematical calculations; knowledge of the Windows environment; and advanced knowledge of data quality practices.

Ability to write code, testing and debugging computer programs/queries in SQL programming and SAS suite of products

Experience in formatting reports and publications and in logically organizing information for usability.

Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, Outlook and Project.

Familiar with data management software.

Skilled in communicating technical information to non-technical business users.



  • A related IT Associate degree and/or certificate and two (2) years of experience writing database queries or statistical analysis
  • Experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis for required education
  • Experience with education data is preferred but not required
