POSITION SUMMARY:

This is a highly responsible professional position in the Open Systems Administration section. FDLE's Information Technology Services Division provides a wide range of services to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and Florida criminal justice agencies that use its information systems. 

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific duties include:

  • Installing, maintaining and supporting Linux based servers in FDLE’s 24x7x365 datacenter;
  • Installing and supporting Redhat Jboss middleware products, such as EAP, AMQ and FUSE;
  • Supporting FDLE Cloud Infrastructure;
  • Utilizing automation software such as scripts or Ansible playbooks;
  • Providing after hours on-call for Linux based server systems; 
  • Creating and updating of applicable documentation for new and existing Linux based systems; and
  • Linux Server Security, Malware and Antivirus implementation and monitoring.   

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of Red Hat Linux Operating Systems;
  • Knowledge of Linux networking;
  • Knowledge of Virtualization technology;
  • Knowledge of backup methodologies, procedures and ITS policies regarding the management of backups;
  • Knowledge of basic scripting languages and concepts;
  • Ability to prepare program specifications and requirements;
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex programs and work flows;
  • Ability to support Java, JBoss Web applications;
  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively; and
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others, especially fellow OSA staff.

BASE SALARY:

  • $63,860.00

 

NOTES:

Starting salary will be at the minimum of the class pay range, unless otherwise dictated by FDLE's pay policy. The elements of this selection process may include a work sample and/or interview. Future vacancies may be filled from this position advertisement.
