The Work You Will Do:

This position will be a lead position on the Network Infrastructure Team. The incumbent assists the team manager with strategic planning for the agency’s projects, and aids in the cross-training of other team members. The incumbent prepares documentation of processes and procedures, and functions as a technical guide and resource for teammates. This position deals with a wide range of technologies, including, but not limited to servers, enterprise applications, networking, and telecommunications systems. This position is responsible for the deployment, maintenance, security and decommission of listed technologies, as well as the implementation of new technologies that aid in the modernization and optimization of the agency. This position is in an On Call rotation.

Your Specific Responsibilities:

  • Deploys, configures, maintains and secures new servers based on agency's needs.
  • Performs maintenance of existing servers and server hosts, to include the installation of system upgrades and/or deployment of security patches.
  • Monitors servers' health and ensures high availability. Reports outages or performance degradation of any server or related equipment to manager.
  • Assists in research and resolution of server issues as directed. Documents applications installed on each server, and records any changes made.
  • Perform server backups as needed.
  • Deploys, configures, maintains and secures new network devices based on agency's needs.
  • Performs maintenance of existing switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers, and other network devices, to include the installation of system upgrades and/or deployment of security patches.
  • Monitors the network's health and ensures high availability.
  • Reports outages or performance degradation of any network device or related equipment to manager.
  • Assists in research and resolution of network issues as directed.
  • Supports the back end of the agency's Communication Management System and all related modules, including: Call Manager (UCM), Finesse (UCCX), Interactive Voice Response (IVR), among others.
  • Acts as technical resource and cross trains members of the Network Infrastructure Team on all manner of technology managed by the group.
  • Assigns tickets to the appropriate team members and assists troubleshooting as necessary.
  • Creates and/or coordinates the creation of documentation, establishes a technical knowledge base to maintain information critical to the success of the team, assists in process review of Infrastructure and associated teams to create more efficient workflows.
  • Supports assigned IT projects from inception to full completion. Performs research as needed and develops efficient plan(s) that bring help accomplish the desired goal(s).
  • Utilizes proper time management and project follow-through. Conducts research and development as directed by Infrastructure managers to promote more efficient tools and processes. Implements technology changes as directed.
  • Performs other job-related duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of server technologies, to include Windows and Linux operating systems, Active Directory, Group Policy, Domain Controllers, DNS, DHCP, and other Windows Server Roles and Features, as well as systems and applications backup solutions.
  • Working knowledge of network technologies, to include deploying, configuring, maintaining and securing L2 and L3 switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers, as well as other PDUs, UPSs, and other networking devices.
  • Working knowledge of telecommunication technologies, to include VoIP phones, communication management applications, call center applications, as well as other collaboration applications and devices.
  • Working knowledge of cloud technologies, to include deployment of different cloud models, management of hybrid-cloud environments, cloud networking and server deployment and configuration, cloud storage solutions, and cloud applications monitoring.
  • Ability to conduct research and identify essential information, and to collect, evaluate and analyze data to develop recommendations and solve problems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot network connectivity issues and server/application outages.

 

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Experience with cloud technologies, virtualization, and hybrid infrastructure environments; and
  • Working experience with servers, network devices, and other enterprise equipment; and
  • Working experience with telecommunications and collaboration system; and
  • At least five (5) years of professional IT work experience is required. Educational experience, coursework, or degree programs may not be substituted for the required work experience; and
  • Must be able to meet the requirements of Florida Statutes, Ch. 60L-32.0012 (2)(b) regarding On-Call status.
