Position Overview

The candidate selected for this position will serve as part of the Executive Office of the Governor’s Systems Design and Development technical team, responsible for the administration, management, and maintenance of the department’s server and cloud infrastructure. Working collaboratively with other IT professionals, the candidate will help ensure system reliability, performance, and security across all server environments and services. 

Salary will be determined based on qualifications and experience. This role is on-site and not eligible for remote work and participates in an on-call rotation to provide after-hours support to ensure continuous system availability.   Candidates must successfully pass a background check and drug screen.


Key Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a team to manage, monitor, and maintain all servers to ensure optimal performance and availability.
  • Collaborate with team members to plan and support capacity growth for servers, storage, and backup systems.
  • Apply patches, updates, and configuration changes to servers and workstations in coordination with other administrators.
  • Support and administer cloud platforms, including Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365 Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, and related Microsoft services.
  • Assist in the management of Active Directory Domain Services, DNS, DHCP, and endpoint management tools.
  • Participate in team-based efforts to perform and verify backups, and manage data recovery and restoration processes.
  • Contribute to the development, testing, and maintenance of disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
  • Work collaboratively to identify and remediate security vulnerabilities and system risks.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong teamwork, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., Microsoft Hyper-V).
  • Working knowledge of enterprise-class server hardware and storage systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 Cloud Services, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, and OneDrive administration.
  • Understanding of backup principles, practices, and technologies.
  • Experience with PowerShell and command-line administration.
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure and AWS.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively to analyze and troubleshoot distributed systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for team and stakeholder interactions.
  • Ability to deploy, configure, and document new and existing hardware and software solutions in a team setting.
  • Skilled in server patching, updates, builds, and configuration management.
  • Experience supporting Custom and Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) applications.
  • Proficient in Windows Server administration.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in coordination with team goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, leadership, and partners.
  • Advanced proficiency in Active Directory and Microsoft 365 Entra ID within a collaborative environment
