The Work You Will Do:

 

DEP’s Office of Technology and Information Services (OTIS) is currently recruiting for a Systems Project Analyst. This is a technical position on the Department’s Geographic Information Systems (GIS) team.  Employees of OTIS are required to demonstrate total commitment to outstanding customer service. Your Specific Responsibilities:

 

Specific duties and responsibilities include:

 

  • Manages and maintains the Department’s geospatial imagery resources. Incorporates updated imagery into existing catalogs, transforms imagery into new formats and storage solutions, and assists the State Geographic Information Office with stewardship of new imagery resources to provide authoritative, accessible services to the Florida geospatial community.
     
  • Develops and presents custom enterprise geographic information systems (GIS) training materials and sessions in support of OTIS Enterprise GIS tools, including, but not limited to: Map Direct, FDEP ArcGIS Online (AGO) organizational account, ArcGIS Pro, Enterprise Portal for ArcGIS, AGO mobile and field maps applications, ArcGIS Dashboards, ArcGIS Story Maps, and the FDEP Geospatial Open Data Portal. Responsible for scheduling, room preparation, and IT coordination for training in Tallahassee and at remote office locations. Some in-state travel will be required when permitted.

 

  • Provides GIS technical support to the OTIS Tier I and Tier II staff, and acts as the primary contact for the OTIS-GIS Help Desk.  Troubleshoots software, hardware, and web application issues reported by staff as they relate to FDEP’s GIS resources. Creates complete records in the Cherwell Help Desk tracking system and documents ESRI known bugs and future enhancements that may impact FDEP GIS users.

 

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

 

  • Knowledge of ESRI geographic information software including the ArcGIS Online suite.
  • Knowledge of cartographic and geospatial principals including geospatial open data.
  • Knowledge of relational data base structures.
  • Knowledge of spatial data analysis techniques.
  • Ability to maintain a knowledge of established policies, procedures, and directives necessary to accomplish assignments and responsibilities.
  • Skill at conducting training on technical topics.
  • Skill at searching designated technical resources for information on software upgrades, bug fixes, and patches.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to travel in state, to conduct training events.
  • Ability to maintain a valid driver’s license.

  • Experience with ArcGIS Online
  • Experience with ESRI desktop products
