MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and three (3) years of experience in computer systems analysis and/or computer programming; or

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in one of the computer sciences or in management information systems and two (2) years of experience as described above; or

A master's degree from an accredited college or university in one of the computer sciences or in management information systems and one (1) year of experience as described above; or

A doctorate from an accredited college or university in one of the computer sciences or in management information systems; or

Four years of experience as described above and either (1) completion of a 720-classroom hour program of study from a vocational/technical school or accredited community college in an area of data processing (excluding data entry), or (2) 60 semester or 90 quarter hours of college course work from an accredited institution which includes four courses in computer science or management information systems. 

Experience as described above can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education. 

Completion of a one-year program of study from a vocational/technical school in an area of data processing (excluding data entry) can substitute for one year of the required experience.

JOB DUTIES:

Employee works directly with the lab hardware and network components onsite and serves as a technical liaison for the software vendor. This position monitors system backups, analyzes problems, resolves daily log issues, and provides desktop support. This position works very closely with the Food Safety IT team to ensure proper procedure and protocol.

Employee assists users by analyzing data communication issues, identifying problems and formulating solutions. Works with Food Safety IT team to determine modifications to computer systems.

Employee works with staff and laboratory quality manager to ensure quality assurance and ultimately, improvement, as required under ISO 17025. Manages the inventory database for equipment and chemical/reagents ensuring that data is accurate. Makes recommendations to management for improvements to computer systems and databases.

Employee maintains personal expertise in information technology, instrument technology, quality assurance and improvement through self-motivation. Employee complies with state and department policies and procedures in providing IT support to staff performing analysis of foods.  Provides support to the State Hemp Program.  Performs other related duties as may be assigned.

  • Knowledge of installing, maintaining and monitoring network systems.

  • Knowledge of computer operations procedures and systems.
  • Ability to process information logically.
  • Ability to design systems logic and/or process information logically.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret computer program data.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
  • Ability to communicate technical data processing information effectively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
