A bachelor’s degree from a college or university and three (3) years of experience in computer systems analysis, quality assurance testing, and/or computer programming; or

A bachelor’s degree from a college or university with a major in one of the computer sciences or in management information systems and two (2) years of experience as described above; or

A master’s degree from an accredited college or university in one of the computer sciences or in management information systems and one (1) year of experience as described above; or

A doctorate from an accredited college or university in one of the computer sciences on in management information systems; or

Four (4) years of experience as described above and either (1) completion of a 720 classroom hour program of study from a vocational/technical school or accredited community college in an area of data processing (excluding data entry), or (2) 60 semester or 90 quarter hours of college coursework from an accredited institution which includes four courses in computer science or management information systems.

Experience as described above can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.

Completion of a one (1) year program of study from a vocational/technical school in an area of data processing (excluding data entry) can substitute for one (1) year of the required experience.

Requires possession of a valid driver license.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $40,948.18 - $53,232.66 annually.


Perform activities to define and analyze user needs in order to design, develop, support, maintain and manage Information Technology solutions employing database technology for the Florida Forest Service (FFS), including the coordination and interfacing of systems with other agencies as appropriate.

The position’s responsibilities will include:

Assist in all aspects of software development and maintenance including, but not limited to, requirements gathering, coding, testing and final deployment. Insure the FFS and the department software methodologies, application programming standards and disaster recovery requirements are followed. Prepare documentation based on the department’s Information Technology Life Cycle (ITLC) to support assigned databases and related subsystems. 

Assist supervisor in monitoring and resolving Help Desk incident tickets. Complete assigned tickets in a timely manner and notify management immediately of any resolution issues related to incident tickets. Maintain necessary documentation for users and Help Desk staff.

Conduct troubleshooting and other special assignments related to information management and participate in professional enhancement activities. Recommend and monitor priorities for systems development, installation, evaluation and implementation of current or new equipment, computers and/or computer applications.
