A bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or related field from an accredited college or university is preferred.

Additional preference will be given for:

  • Two (2) or more years of MS .Net web applications development experience.
  • Two (2) or more years MS Visual Studio .NET experience.
  • Two (2) or more years SQL Server Management Studio experience.
  • Two (2) or more years of JAVA programming experience.

This position may be required to occasionally perform duties other than those listed on the position description. 

This position requires a security background check, including fingerprint as a condition of employment. 

Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

Minimum Qualifications for this position include the following REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to work well in a team environment and to receive and give constructive criticism as well as maintain effective work relationships with others.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft vb.Net, Crystal Reports, and C#.Net.
  • Knowledge of recognized industry-wide web development software/programs and best practices.
  • Skill in application development using relational database.
  • Ability to identify and resolve user task requests.
  • Ability to interpret and respond to computer error messages.
  • Ability to receive and carry out work assignments independently in a timely manner.
  • Ability to receive and give constructive criticism, and maintain effective work relationships with others.
  • Ability to work independently coding, testing and implementing technical solutions and to assist others in implanting technical solutions.
  • Experience gathering requirements for software development.
  • Knowledge of distributed processing operations, procedures and equipment.

Development activities to include:

  • Assist in support of the application development and production environments.
  • Design application changes and develop technical specifications to meet the stated requirements of the business area, and provide the best solution for new enhancements and ongoing maintenance following division methodology. 
  • Maintain, enhance, and/or develop supported applications in approved development languages and platforms in accordance with division processes.
  • Perform production code builds and help resolve problems related to code deployments as needed.
  • Design non-functional prototypes of software and websites.
  • Perform analysis, facilitate resolution, or correct performance related problems with applications.
  • Gathers metrics, troubleshoot issues, and monitor navigation and functionality for internal and external websites.

Communicate regularly with team members, OIT management, and business areas as to the status of assignments, and proposed and current projects.

Creates and maintains documentation (including security, infrastructure, versions, setup/configure, etc.), procedures and manuals on all supported systems. 

Coordinates and ensures standard implementation of policies, procedures and systems operations.

Work with business area in estimating and prioritizing application changes, insuring that all authorized changes are thoroughly documented, reviewed, and accepted by the business area.

Serve as a contact for system users in the area of secured access to internal system applications.
