Job Description

This is professional and highly technical work in the support of enterprise applications running on cloud and on-prem environments. This position is responsible for monitoring the status of servers and applications and helps to improve DOE's security posture following 60GG-2 cyber security rules.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

Prepares work requests and projects related but not limited to: 
•    Provides technical assistance to the community colleges related to the Data Base, transmission of data files and retrieval of standard reports. 
•    Responsible for server support to local providers implementing Perkins, Adult Education services in accordance with state and federal guidelines.

 •    Responsible for administering different versions of the SAS Software Platforms deployed at DOE. 
•    Monitor SAS environments for availability.
•    System Administration experience in a Microsoft environment, preferably Server 2016, 2019, 2022 IIS 7.0/7.5, SSL requests and implementation; Domain Name request and implementation with DNS.

Knowledge of principles, practices and techniques of system installation, configuration, support, and ongoing maintenance to ensure web services and programs function securely and efficiently.
•    Ability to work with application developers to deploy applications into an IIS 6.0, 7.0 and 8.0 environment according to a documented industry best practice process.
•    Follows Education Data Center standards for programming, validation, security and change management.
•    Assures that confidential data are handled, stored, and disposed of as required by Federal and State law and data exchange agreements by administering data security procedures that meet or exceed those requirements.
•    Produce up to par infrastructure technical documentation in a timely manner. 
•    Experience is required in one or more of the following technologies and platforms in response to technology changes in this unit’s operating environment: Experience with Identity and Access management solutions on the Microsoft platform, to include Forefront Identity Manager and Active Directory Federation Services ADFS 2.0/3.0.  Ability to create FIM Management Agents.  Experience with claims-based access, certificate management, PKI. 
•    Ability to think logically; evaluate and resolve user/system problems; design systems logic and/or process information logically.
•    Ability to analyze and interpret all types of server and application related issues in reference to application and infrastructure interaction; identify and define user task needs and/or conduct short range and long-range project planning studies.
•    Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments; communicate technical data processing information effectively, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
•    Performs other duties as assigned.
•    Demonstrates experience in using stored procedures, packages in programs for major applications, systems analysis, and programming.
•    Provide support for production systems.
•    Must be able to work with minimal direction.

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENTS:
