The Office of Information Technology Services is seeking a detail-oriented SYSTEMS PROJECT ANALYST to join our team. This position's primary responsibility is working with colleagues and stakeholders to support the Enterprise Data Warehouse.  The ideal candidate easily adapts to a variety of assignments, works well with other team members and stakeholders, and excels at identifying the most efficient ETL process for a particular data source/destination. Additionally, they will mentor other staff on the use of processes, tools and best practices utilized in the Enterprise Data Warehouse. This position is located at the DCF Headquarters in Tallahassee, within the Office of Information Technology Services.

 

EXAMPLES OF WORK:

 

Load Data into the Enterprise Data Warehouse: Work with business users to gather required metadata, standardize column and table names, add standardized metadata to Warehouse control tables, and monitor load processes to ensure data loads successfully.  Create, update, and maintain documentation of load processes and functions.

 

Support Processes Preparing Data for Loading into the Enterprise Data Warehouse: Build and support extract and load processes required to prepare data to be loaded into the Enterprise Data Warehouse when data cannot be loaded directly from source.  These processes will mostly use Azure Synapse pipeline, but other tools (SSIS, sftp, mainframe interface, etc.) are required at times.

 

Master Data Management: Work with other team members to maintain, validate, and enhance the Department's Master Data Management system.  Work with business stakeholders to develop a process for stewardship of person matches.  Research other utilizations for the MDM solution.

 

Data Catalog:  Develop and maintain a Data Catalog for all Department data.  Coordinate with business users to define columns.  Prepare Catalog for insertion into the Statewide Data Catalog.

 

Cloud Migration: Plan for and monitor migration of on-prem resources to Cloud-based storage.

 

Technical Documentation and Specifications: Create detailed technical documentation, including design documents, workflow documentation, and user guides, for the various processes and tools utilized by the Data Management Team.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES, including utilization of equipment, required for the position:

 

Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels.

 

Knowledge of:  various ETL (extract, transfer, and load) methodologies and techniques, especially cloud-based tools such as Azure Synapse Analytics; SDLC phases, including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, and deployment; relational database concepts; and project management principles.  Skilled at: evaluating complex technical problems, devising potential options, and implementing appropriate solutions; designing, implementing and documenting results of testing at various phases of development; creating business and technical documentation; writing complex SQL statements; and using Microsoft Office products. Ability to: analyze and interpret technical data; determine work priorities and appropriately budget time spent on assigned tasks; communicate technical data processing information with diverse groups of stakeholders effectively; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; provide excellent customer service; and understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 3+ years of experience in data/database management.
  • 3+ years of experience with data migration/ETL tools and processes.
  • 1+ years of experience in capturing metadata or building data dictionaries.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer support and work well with others in a demanding, fast-paced enviornment.

 

PREFERENCES:

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in Azure Synapse Analytics, structured query language (SQL), master data management/master client index system, and data migration. 

Preference will be given to candidates who have a Microsoft Azure certification.
