POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is involved with the analysis, development, design and implementation of comprehensive management information systems and/or integrated sub-systems. The incumbent will direct the activities of assigned Information Technology Services (ITS) to address the needs of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specific duties include:
- Consulting with customers to gather information and determine requirements for implementation of comprehensive management information systems;
- Conducting major systems studies to determine requirements for implementation;
- Adhering to adoptive standards for programming as defined by ITS;
- Completing system, operations, and user documentations for all assigned projects prior to final implementation;
- Providing technical support for ITS systems and providing assistance to staff in troubleshooting system problems;
- Participating in the review and evaluation of software products that are received by ITS, and producing reports requested by supervisor;
- Using adopted ad-hoc reporting tools and approved programming languages to assist other members of the Department in developing reports;
- Scheduling assigned data center personnel and equipment to ensure proper implementation and operation of systems; and
- Answering basic questions regarding the use of the computers installed in their area of responsibility by maintaining a working knowledge of all standard software.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of computer programming and systems analysis and design principles and practices;
- Knowledge of relation data base technologies and techniques, including Structured Query Language (SQL);
- Knowledge of mathematics;
- Knowledge of web site management (or) experience with Web Content management system a plus;
- Ability to process information logically;
- Ability to identify and define user task needs;
- Ability to conduct short range and long range project planning studies;
- Ability to write technical data processing reports;
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations; and
- Ability to communicate effectively.

BASE SALARY:
- $ 65,137.28
NOTES:
Starting salary will be at the minimum of the class pay range, unless otherwise dictated by FDLE's pay policy. The elements of this selection process may include a work sample and/or interview. Future vacancies may be filled from this position advertisement.
