JOB DESCRIPTION
Serves as the Boating Access Coordinator and conducts all duties associated with ensuring public access to Florida waters is available to the boating communities.
Duties Include:
- Supervises and directs the boating access field unit, grants management unit, and other personnel in the sub-section.
- Hosts and attends meetings to promote boating access, train partners on grant and boating access opportunities, and represent the State’s interests.
- Coordinates with other section and sub-section leaders on issues relating to boating access.
- Monitor the administration of the Florida Boating Improvement Program (FBIP).
- Coordinates the Boating Infrastructure Grant Program (BIGP).
- Plans and administers the Sportfish Restoration Boating Access projects.
- Oversees the review and priority recommendations of freshwater and marine boating access facilities statewide.
- Is responsible for ensuring all activities of the sub-section are being performed effectively and in a cost-efficient manner.
- Coordinates and negotiates the State’s interests in land control documents for boating access projects with private and local government entities.
- Serves as the Division negotiator to secure MOAs on boating access projects.
- Resolves permit problems with federal, state and local governments on boating access and coordinates emergency repairs at Commission controlled boating facilities.
- Ensures federal aid requirements are met for boating access projects related to federal funding.
- Serves as liaison to the States Organization for Boating Access (SOBA) and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
- Carries out the duties of the Division Federal Aid Coordinator.
- Manages fixed capital outlay projects and other projects within the Division of Law Enforcement, as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have a valid FL Contract Manager Certification or obtain one within 6 months of employment.
- Must have a valid driver's license
- Must pass a level 2 background check if selected
