CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  1. New employees of the Florida State Guard will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security, or a related field; AND
  • Five (5) years of professional IT experience or any combination of non-professional or professional experience and college education of 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours for each year in the above fields, can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
  • CompTIA Security+
  • ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity (CC)

 

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master's Degree preferred in Computer Science, Cyber Security, or a related field.
  • Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) and/or Microsoft AZ-500.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leads development and implementation processes for the agency’s IT systems and department.
  • Oversees the creation, maintenance, and establishment of information security incident response policies, plans, and procedures, to include:
    • Developing and maintaining policies and procedures to ensure security requirements are incorporated into the change control process.
    • Establishing and maintaining policy and regulatory expectations for the protection of the physical operating environment for agency-owned or managed IT resources.
    • Establishing and maintaining a policy and procedure review process that facilitates continuous improvement to protection processes.
    • Manages the following duties required per Rule 60-GG-2:
    • Establishing an information security program that includes information security policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines; an information security awareness program; an information security risk management process, including the comprehensive risk assessment required by section 282.318, F.S.; a Computer Security Incident Response Team; and a disaster recovery program that aligns with the agency’s Continuity of Operations (COOP) Plan. Proactively research latent security threats and recommend risk mitigation actions.
    • Performing information security investigations that could potentially impact the employment status of employees (career service, SES, SMS, contractors).
    • Performing information security investigations in conjunction with the Inspector General’s Office and law enforcement agencies.
  • Oversees the deliverables for independent contractors and third-party employees to ensure compliance with the contract.
  • Review and modify firewall rules iteratively to be more secure.
  • Manage and configure the agency’s endpoint security solution.
  • Respond to information security incidents and execute countermeasures.
  • Serve as an operational information security subject matter expert to other sections within the division.
  • Create, maintain, establish, and review application security standards and implementation plans and procedures as part of a secure software development lifecycle process.
  • Recommend security remediation paths for legacy systems and applications.
  • Review cloud migration strategies to ensure continued security compliance as applications and servers migrate to new environments.
  • Review access requests and provide access control oversight.
  • Maintain technical skillset in order to adapt to new technologies as they emerge, including researching and recommending security-focused training for themselves and others in the division.
  • Ensure cryptographic standards are maintained in systems and applications.
  • Maintain compliance with CJIS (criminal justice) systems and recommend technologies and procedures for on-premises and cloud-based CJIS infrastructure
  • Evaluate desktop policies to ensure proper patching levels and security policies are maintained.
  • Manage strategic tasks, including information security risk assessments, audits, and governance.
  • Assist with non-routine and unforeseen administrative tasks as a result of incidents, activations, or direction of leadership.
  • Research, analyze, draft, and implement cybersecurity policies and best practices which support the FSG.
  • Monitor trends in order to identify needed changes to cybersecurity rules
