Minimum Requirements:

  • The incumbent must be able to meet the requirements of Chapter 60L-32.0012 (2)(b), Florida Administrative Code, regarding On-Call status; and
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a computer related field, or an Associate’s degree with two (2) years of technical experience. Documented, equivalent work experience can be substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.

Preference will be given to candidates that have experience working with data visualization tools such as Qlik, Tableau, Power BI, etc.

 Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Installing and configuring database software.
  • Monitoring database performance.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving database connectivity issues.
  • Assisting with the troubleshooting and resolution of errors and bugs in the databases and connected systems.
  • Maintaining and controlling user access to databases, including account creation and permission management.
  • Maintaining code for migration and migrating Oracle and SQL Server code to UAT and production environments.
  • Performing SQL Server database refreshes as required.
  • Assisting with the creation and maintenance of database tables, views and data connections necessary to support end user application needs.
  • Providing Tier 2 support to developers and data stewards as needed.
  • Assisting with the development of new database structures.
  • Assisting application developers in the analysis, design, development or enhancement of applications.
  • Researching potential solutions within the departmental framework and at the direction of the Data Architect.
  • Collaborating with the Database Architect as required.
  • Creating and maintaining system documentation on database systems.
  • Assisting with the process of querying data, analyzing the results, and presenting the findings in a way that provides clarity and actionable insight.
  • Assisting with the development of specifications for datasets and reports based on business requests.
  • Assisting with the creation of new reports and dashboards.
  • Maintaining existing reports and dashboards.
  • Preparing ad hoc reports as required.
  • Submitting service request tickets to Division of State Technology (DST) for Oracle support.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
     

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of or ability to learn SQL and relational database theory.
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn Microsoft SQL Server, including 2005 and 2016.
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn Oracle RDBMS, including 10g RAC and 12c Exadata.
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn MySQL.
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn Oracle administration tools (Toad, Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM).
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn SQL Server Tools (Enterprise Manager).
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn SQL authoring toolsets.
  • Ability to upgrade SQL Server and Oracle.
  • Possess strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Possess effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to think nonlinearly and find resourceful solutions to challenging issues.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize concurrent tasks and projects.
  • Ability to work both collaboratively on teams as well as independently as necessary.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical staff.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to work shifts in an On-Call rotation.
  • Ability to work overtime as necessary.
