SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervise staff, spending the majority of time communicating with, motivating, training, evaluating, planning, and directing work of employees. Provide assistance and guidance to ensure activities are completed efficiently and accurately. Develop and provide performance expectations to direct reports. Complete performance reviews to ensure productivity and cohesiveness amongst the work unit. Establish and communicate individual training plans for direct reports.

 

Supervise, direct, and assist staff in the coordination and performance of employee engagement and retention initiatives including (but not limited to): mentoring, coaching, career and job fairs, or similar activities; awards and recognition initiatives for Department and Central Office employees; and new employee orientation and experience initiatives for Department and Central Office employees. Supporting other required employee engagement and retention functions by collaborating statewide and facilitating meets and workshops. Advocate for the Department’s employee experience strategy by monitoring best practices, identifying opportunities to improve, and supporting the performance of all associated duties and responsibilities.

 

Supervise, direct, and assist staff in the coordination and performance of the FDOT Internship Program and oversees its administration by performing related activities including (but not limited to): acting as a liaison between the Department and university of college career centers; coordinating with Department internship contacts to create and advertise internship positions; overseeing associated budgets; developing processes, procedures, manuals, surveys, communications, presentations, and reports; and reporting to leadership on the effectiveness of the program. Advocate for the Department’s internship strategy by monitoring best practices, identifying opportunities to improve, and supporting the performance of all associated duties and responsibilities.

 

Support other required ODO functions including (but not limited to): developing training materials and facilitating trainings; leading meetings and workshops; communicating and presenting on ODO-related projects and initiatives; and providing cross-functional support within ODO.

Skill in using Microsoft 365 products including, but not limited to Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, or equivalent alternatives. Skill in tracking performance of programs, projects, and people through effective metrics. Ability to supervise others. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across generations, job levels, interoffice, and across the Department. Ability to plan, organize, and manage complex work assignments. Ability to research, identify, and implement innovation solutions. Ability to communicate effectively through all channels, including virtually, in person, and in writing, with appropriate tone and body language. Ability to lead presentations, trainings, meetings, conferences, workshops, etc. both in person and virtually. Ability to think critically and problem solve

 

Other Job-Related Requirements: Travel may be required.

 

As a CANDIDATE, you may be required to provide documentation (i.e. HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR EQUIVALENCY, college transcripts, ETC.) to verify meeting these Minimum Qualifications.

 

This position requires a valid Class E driver license with an acceptable driving record in accordance with the Department's Drivers Record Requirements Policy. An unacceptable driving recoard is defined as any of the following:

1. Three (3) or more moving violations in the past 3 years that accumulate 3 or more points per violation;

2. Any 2 convictions of reckless driving in the past 3 years;

3. A suspension or revocation of the driver license for moving violations in the past 3 years; and

4. A suspension or revocation for refusal to take a sobriety test, or any suspension or revocation for a DUI conviction in the past 4 years.

 

Your driving record will be reviewed and the status of your driver license confirmed.
