JOB SUMMARY:
This is a Tax Audit Supervisor - SES position in the General Tax Administration Program's Refunds and Revenue Accounting Process, Refunds Unit. The incumbent manages tax auditors responsible for all taxes administered by the General Tax Administration Program. The incumbent confers with and assists tax auditors with difficult issues, reviews case files for accuracy, conducts meetings with taxpayers when necessary, and maintains control of all case files assigned to the team. The incumbent also conducts general administrative tasks including approval of time sheets, leave requests, travel vouchers, and the preparation of performance plans for members of the team.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Currently employed with the Florida Department of Revenue.
- Six years of accounting, auditing, or refund auditing experience with at least four of those years within the General Tax Administration Program's Refunds Process or Compliance Audit Process. *
- Experience working with Microsoft Excel.
SUBSTITUTIONS:
- * A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major course of study in Accounting, Business, or in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) field can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required experience of accounting, auditing, or refund auditing.
- * A master's degree in accounting or area of business or possession of a Certified Public Accounting (C.P.A.) certificate can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required experience of accounting, auditing, or refund auditing.
PREFERENCES:
- Experience working within the System for Unified Taxation (SUNTAX).
- Experience with researching Florida Statutes and Administrative Codes.
- Experience performing sales and use tax audits within the General Tax Administration Program.
SPECIAL NOTES:
- Documentation of education requirements must be submitted at time of application to proceed to the skills verification test. Failure to provide education requirements could result in removal from further consideration.
SALARY: The hiring salary for this position generally will not exceed $6,319.95 monthly/$75,839.40 annually.
