Duties and Responsibilities 

This position functions as an integral member of the Test Data Management team and will operate as a database administrator for the department’s Oracle and SQL databases. The incumbent will perform database administration on Oracle versions 10g, 11g, and 12c. Duties will include assisting and supporting test data management, database and data warehouse users; analyzing, coordinating and implementing new database requests and systems; monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving test data management, database, and data warehouse issues.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Experience in logical database design and data models.
  • Experience as a PL/SQL Developer.
  • Experience in Oracle 10g, 11g and 12c database administration.
  • Experience working in a Unix operating system.
  • Ability to work independently and to resolve complex Oracle issues.
  • Ability to effectively diagnose, isolate, and resolve complex problems about data infrastructure
  • Ability to write 10g/11g/ 12c SQL, PL/SQL, Stored Procedures, Functions, Packages and Database Triggers.
  • Ability to Tune Oracle SQL and PL/SQL performance.
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical data processing information verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment, and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to receive and give constructive criticism, and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to maintain currency on tools, methodologies, and technologies related to data administration.
  • Knowledge of Unix scripting. 
  • Knowledge, skills, and abilities, including utilization of equipment, required for the position
  • Knowledge of data synchronization and data synchronization tools.
  • Knowledge of test data management and test data management tools.
  • Knowledge of data privacy and protection initiatives.
  • Understanding of the software development lifecycle process.
  • Practical experience in monitoring and tuning a database to provide a high availability service.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to resolve problems in a professional manner.

 

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with the following:

  • A master’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university in one of the computer sciences or in management information systems (or)
  • A bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college/university in one of the computer sciences or management information systems (or)
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (or)
  • Completion of a two-year program of study from a vocational/technical school or accredited community college in an area of data processing (excluding data entry).
  • Experience administering Oracle and Oracle 12c databases.
  • Experience using Oracle Export/Import or Data Pump (expdp/impdp) utilities.
  • Professional experience using CA Test Data Manager (CA TDM)/ Datamaker for test data generation, data masking, and data subsetting. 
  • Professional experience writing stored procedures and PL/SQL programming.  
  • Experience as a PL/SQL Developer. 
  • Experience working with data synchronization tools.   
  • Experience working with data test data management tools.

 

Job Related Requirements 

  • This position includes a regularly assigned (approximately one week a month) 24-7 on-call requirement.

  • The position you are applying is subject to a Level 2 background check, along with Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) clearance, to include a fingerprint-based check of the criminal records of the FBI, as a condition of employment pursuant to Chapter 110.1127, 435 and 943, Florida Statutes.  Please note that, since this position requires CJIS clearance, the Department will have access to all an applicant’s criminal and juvenile delinquency records, even those that have been sealed or expunged. 

 

General Information

  • The elements of the selection process may include a skill assessment and/or oral interview.
  • Applicants being considered for employment will be required to submit to a fingerprint-based background investigation, which will include a check of the criminal history records of the FBI.  Fingerprints and associated information/biometrics will be retained in the FBI’s Next Generation Identification (NGI) system and fingerprints may continue to be compared against fingerprints submitted to or retained by NGI.
  •  FLHSMV employees are paid once a month on the last workday of each month.  All state employees are required to participate in the direct deposit program pursuant to s. 110.113 Florida Statutes.
