What Will l I Be Doing?

This Test Data Management Database Consultant position functions as an integral member of the Test Data Management team and will operate as a database administrator for the department’s Oracle and SQL databases. The incumbent will perform database administration on Oracle versions 10g, 11g, and 12c. Duties will include: Assisting and supporting test data management, database and data warehouse users, analyzing, coordinating and implementing new database requests and systems; monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving test data management, database, and data warehouse issues.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience in Oracle 10g,11g and 12c database administration.
  • Experience in Oracle database migration and upgrade planning.
  • Experience working in Unix/ Linux operating system.
  • Experience with Oracle software installation, patching and upgrading
  • Experience administering Oracle databases.
  • Ability to work independently and resolve complex Oracle issues.
  • Ability to effectively diagnose, isolate, and resolve complex problems pertaining to data infrastructure.
  • Ability to write SQL, PL-SQL and T-SQL stored procedures, Functions, Packages and Database Triggers.
  • Ability to Tune Oracle SQL and PL/SQL performance.
  • Operational support skills, including experience with system installations, migrations and upgrades.
  • Knowledge of Unix Scripting.
  • Experience with Oracle Data pump Utility.
  • Experience with Oracle Backup and recovery.
  • Knowledge of Test Data Management and Test Data Management Tools
  • Knowledge of data synchronization and data synchronization tools.
  • Experience in planning and design of data synchronization.
  • Experience in logical database design models.
  • Experience as PL/SQL Developer.
  • Understanding the software development lifecycle process.
  • Practical experience in monitoring and tuning a database to provide high availability service.
  • Ability to maintain concurrency in tools, methodologies and technologies related to database administration.
  • Knowledge of data privacy and protection initiatives.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to resolve problems in a professional manner.
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical data processing information verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to receive and give constructive criticism and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to serve as team lead/mentor; ability to transfer knowledge.


We are looking for individuals with the following experience:

  • Administering Oracle databases, particularly Oracle 12c databases.
  • Using the Oracle export/import or Data Pump utility.


Additional preference will be given to applicants with the following:

  • Professional experience writing stored procedures and PL/SQL programming
  • Experience as a PL/SQL Developer
  • Working with data synchronization tools
  • Working with data test data management tools


Education Preferred:

  • A bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college/university, preferably in one of the computer sciences or management information systems (or)
  • Completion of a two-year program of study from a vocational/technical school or accredited community college in an area of data processing (excluding data entry).        


What’s Required?

  • The position you are applying is subject to a Level 2 background and CJIS security clearance, to include fingerprinting as a condition of employment pursuant to Chapter 110.1127, 435 and 943, Florida Statutes.  As an applicant for positions requiring CJIS security clearance, you are required to disclose criminal records that have been sealed or expunged. 
  • This position may periodically be required to work outside regular business hours.
  • This position includes a regularly assigned (approximately one week a month) 24-7 on-call requirement. 


General Information:

HSMV employees are paid once a month on the last workday of each month.  All state employees are required to participate in the direct deposit program pursuant to s. 110.113 Florida Statutes.
