POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is in the Crime Information bureau (CIB), reporting to the Repository Services Unit (RSU). This position serves as  the team lead for RSU and subject matter expert for the Computerized Criminal History (CCH) system and CIB business processes. The incumbent works closely with the RSU supervisor and other members of CIB management to identify improvements with CIB business processes and solutions in the CCH system. Additionally, this position provides research analysis relative to state and national laws, rules and regulations that directly or indirectly have an impact on the dissemination of criminal justice data or information. This position must meet and maintain National Crime Information Center/Florida Crime Information Center (NCIC/FCIC) certification as required and is responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of data housed within the department databases.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific duties include:

  • Providing on-going quality assurance to identify potential problems and recommend alternative resolutions related to the use of systems;
  • Coordinating maintenance and development of operational systems in conjunction with Information Technology Services (ITS) to ensure organizational goals and statutory requirements are met;
  • Participating in requirements gathering and coordinates the communication for computerized criminal history systems necessary to facilitate required functions;
  • Analyzing, interprets and applies state and national laws, policies and guidelines related to maintenance and dissemination of criminal justice information;
  • Determining the impact of existing and proposed laws, rules, and regulations on existing and developmental programs by analysis and research;
  • Ensuring that current programs and all suggested enhancements are in compliance with all requirements;
  • Maintaining thorough knowledge of the divisional strategic plan and ensures all objectives, as assigned, are addressed; and
  • Assisting management in the oversight of criminal history information business processes.
  • Comprehending and interpreting interface control documents, operation guides, code manuals, and database relationships; and
  • Establishing and leading work groups, consisting of internal and external agency stakeholders, to either update or develop user and/or system requirements to meet the needs of Florida’s criminal justice agencies and acting as a Liaison between CJIS and ITS.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of the criminal justice system;
  • Experience dealing with large database and/or image-based systems, preferably in law enforcement or another public/emergency services field;
  • Ability to collect, evaluate and analyze data;
  • Ability to work independently by planning, organizing, and coordinating work assignments;
  • Ability to do short range and long rage project planning;
  • Ability to interpret technical information relating to computer programming and/or computer systems analysis;
  • Ability to communicate technical data processing information effectively;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; and
  • Ability to read and interpret law enforcement data.

BASE SALARY:

  • $54,721.68

 

NOTES:

Starting salary will be at the minimum of the class pay range, unless otherwise dictated by FDLE's pay policy. The elements of this selection process may include a work sample and/or interview. Future vacancies may be filled from this position advertisement.
