JOB DESCRIPTION

The Learning Consultant Manager (LCM) for the Office of Talent, Leadership, and Culture (TLC). Serves as a subject matter expert for certification and instructional methods.

Supervises a team of instructors to include time and attendance, coaching, counseling, performance reviews, scheduling work, etc. Performs other personnel functions, such as interviewing, for the purpose of maintaining adequate staffing needs.

Oversees all certification academies and field training officer course operations. Acts as a subject matter expert in officer development, curricula alignment with rule/policy, instructional method analysis, and strategic training initiatives. Performs program-related initiatives; benchmarking, data analysis, transcript administration, dashboard applications, needs assessments, surveys and project/strategic plans. Meets regularly with managers/administrators to establish future goals and identify specific training needs of the department and seeks out and utilizes opportunities to improve job knowledge and skills, and for professional development.

Prepares for and/or conducts training for certification and in-service training for juvenile justice professionals, to include but not limited to the following training programs: Probation/Detention/Residential/Seminole Sherriff Officer Certification, Florida General Instructor Techniques, Field Training Officer, Suicide Prevention Train the Trainer, Community Assessment Tool (CAT), Youth Empowered Success (YES) Plans, teambuilding, retreats, and other requested trainings. Coordinates associated remediation efforts.

Maintain the statewide annual training calendar within the agency. Ensures that all instructor-led courses have an identified facilitator/instructor, date, time, and location.  Serve, communicate, and relay pertinent information in a timely manner to include but not limited to scheduling, calendar preparation, writing correspondences, roster management and program area interface.

Acts as a liaison for probation, detention, and providers in planning meetings to evaluate and construct a plan for supporting training needs statewide. Makes recommendations and implement improvements, including technology-based tools, process improvements, and technical assistance needs statewide.

 

Conducts statistical analysis of certification and certification maintenance outcomes. Produces monthly reports to assist the administration and partners in strategic planning and identification of process improvement needs. Participate in TLC’s existing and emerging projects, such as statute and rule revisions, climate survey, and other initiatives. Serve as a training expert and consultant and provide training-related assistance as identified and requested. Maintain working knowledge of DJJ policies and procedures.

Assist in the development and review of training materials, both instructor-led and on the DJJ learning management system. Research literature and materials to augment/update curricula. Maintain and provide accurate and timely training records to include evaluation summaries of all classes.  Prepares necessary reports and training records in an accurate and timely manner. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION

A minimum of Three (3) years of management experience.

A mimimum of Five (5) years of instructional experience with adult students.

Must have a valid Driver's Licnese and be able to travel.

Department Approved Instructor Techniques Certified.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Ability to coordinate events and/or meetings.

Ability to organize and plan.

Experience developing tracking tools.

Experience with SharePoint.

Ability to determine work priorities and ensure proper completion of work assignments.

Ability to maintain effective working relationships with others.

Experience in Probation or Detention Services.

Current or prior officer certification (Juvenile Probation Officer or Juvenile Detention Officer).

Knowledge of Department Field Training Officer (FTO) process.

Knowledge of the Department certification standards.
