Minimum Starting Salary: $2,135.95 biweekly.  (In accordance with current spending restrictions, an internal promotion will be filled at the minimum of the pay grade or up to 5% of the employee’s current rate, whichever is higher.)

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position is responsible for the implementation of training and mentoring initiatives, particularly in the areas of needs assessments of the detention centers throughout the state.  The incumbent’s duties specifically include the following areas of responsibility.

Develops training and mentoring for mid to upper-level leadership at all detention centers.  Ensures content adheres to laws, rules, and policies and is legally defensible.  Creates new content to courses and programs as directed.  Revises course and program content to adhere to compliance and/or needs of the detention centers and agency.  Implements effective course and program evaluation strategies and instruments.  Conducts job task analyses.

Identify and monitor training and mentoring needs in all detention centers, and implement mentoring training programs, policies, and procedures to fulfill those needs.

Plans, coordinates and/or presents at statewide and regional conferences, meetings and workshops with trainers, subject matter experts and juvenile justice staff.  Confers with appropriate personnel to ensure successful functioning of newly implemented systems and procedures. Participates in related special projects and workgroups.

Maintains current knowledge of developments in methods, strategies, etc. and emerging technologies in the field of instructional systems design through research and collaboration with peers throughout the state and nationally.  Adheres to all rules and policies and implements continuous quality and process improvement efforts.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to operational and management analysis activities. 

Ability to organize data into logical format for presentation in reports, documents and other written materials. 

Ability to collect, evaluate and analyze data to develop alternative recommendations, solve problems, document work and other activities relating to the improvement of operational and management practices. 

Ability to conduct fact finding research. 

Ability to work independently. 

Ability to solve problems and make decisions.

Ability to travel to all regions to fulfill training duties.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Valid driver’s license

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

A bachelor's degree with a major in criminal justice or three years of professional experience in juvenile justice.

 

SPECIAL NOTES:

Licenses that have Corrective Lenses Restriction are acceptable, provided the driver wears corrective lenses while operating the vehicle.
