The Communications Office is seeking an individual to oversee the development and maintenance of the Department’s website and graphic design activities and manage website and graphic design projects from concept to completion. This work includes collaborating with graphic designers, developers, public relations staff, and other key stakeholders on content, functionality, and design to suite a wide range of needs; recommending new and creative ideas to integrate webpages and graphic design with the Department’s education, communication and service objectives; directing creative teams and facilitating cross-functional collaboration; and monitoring and analyzing data related to performance, user behavior and traffic to help guide future strategies. This position also coordinates ongoing the maintenance and quality assurance of website assets, performance, structure and architecture; evaluates emerging technologies and trends; and seeks opportunities to optimize user experience and increase the efficiency, accessibility, reliability, and usefulness of webpages.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of web security, firewalls and intrusion detection systems.
- Proficiency in using WordPress, Adobe Creative Suite, FileZilla and other relevant tools.
- Knowledge of HTML/CSS and basic web development principles.
- Knowledge of website accessibility and design standards and best practices related to ADA compliance.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines and make adjustments for shifting priorities and evolving project demands, while still ensuring attention to detail and work quality standards are met.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams.
- Strong analytical, problem solving and conceptual skills with ability to generate creative solutions to tackle objectives and solve problems.
- Ability to learn and develop skills outside of regular job routines.
- Ability to supervise and mentor design team members.
- Experience in website development including HTML/CSS development.
- Experience in graphic design.
- Experience in project management and team leadership.
