MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

 

Completion of 60 semester or 90 quarter hours of college course work from an accredited institution which includes four courses in computer science, graphic design, web design, multimedia design or management information systems; or

 

Completion of a 720 classroom hour program study from a vocational/technical school or accredited community college in an area of graphic design, web design, multimedia design, data processing, or computer science; or

 

One (1) year of experience in the above-related fields can substitute for the required education.

JOB DUTIES:

 

Assist with creating, maintaining, and proactively ensuring the consistency of the front-end user experiences of Department websites, intranet sites, and web-based applications. Designs and implements UI/UX graphic designs and modifies and maintains content using standard Adobe Creative Suite products, HTML, CSS, and a variety of content-hosting platforms, including SharePoint, Salesforce, GovQA, EZ Publish CMS, and Microsoft Dynamics / Power Platform.

 

Assist with Consulting on user application flow and user interface design with OATS customers and application development teams. Builds wireframes, storyboards, user flows, and site maps as needed to document or communicate user interaction and design concepts. Reviews wireframes, storyboards, etc., built by other teams responsible for developing user interfaces according to Department standards and UIX design leading practices. Maintains documentation on Department user interface standards.

 

Responds to requests via tickets for simple maintenance on existing Department web applications. Simple maintenance can include static or dynamic image, content, or link replacement on existing pages; establishing necessary permissions or credentials for accessing existing online assets; or duplicating existing pages or functionality that does not require code development.   

  

Performs related work as required, which includes but is not limited to: participating in disaster recovery planning and execution activities, maintaining documentation on Department web standards, and implementing the Department's policies and procedures, including the Department's Information Resource Security Program (Chapter 8 - Department's Supervisory Manual).

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

 

  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative suite tools, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and Acrobat.
  • Proficiency with HTML and CSS and working knowledge of JavaScript and Ajax.
  • Proficiency with SEO (search engine optimization) and design for AI principles.
  • Knowledge of leading UI/UX design practices for reusable, low/no code development, and the requirements of modern browser interfaces.
  • Knowledge of clean design and graphic design layout principles.
  • Knowledge of responsive design principles allowing equivalent accessibility of content through desktop, laptop, tablet, and smartphone browser interfaces.
  • Knowledge of alternative presentation techniques to deliver content to users with differing abilities.
  • Knowledge of application development stack principles and appropriate functions and security considerations of the end-user interface layer.
  • Knowledge of English language grammar, punctuation, and professional journalistic style standards.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to communicate design concepts visually to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to provide design expertise in a consultative role on project development teams, or to Department customers as needed.
  • Ability to evaluate written descriptions of UI/UX designs for flaws or deviations from Departmental standards.
  • Ability to follow operational and maintenance procedures.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
