SPECIAL NOTES:

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or its equivalent.
  • Five (5) years of experience adjusting workers’ compensation claims.  

Preferences: 

  • College degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Professional insurance designation. 
  • Two (2) years supervising claims adjusters handling workers compensation occurring in the state of Florida.
  • Two (2) years supervising workers’ compensation claims adjusters. 
  • Experience adjusting Workers’ Compensation presumption claims.

 

This position requires a security background check, including fingerprint as a condition of employment.

 

This position starts with a salary of $66,950.00.

 

Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the components of a workers’ compensation program, including extensive knowledge of the workers’ compensation claims adjusting process.
  • Knowledge of basic management principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective communication.
  • Ability to understand and to apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to the workers’ compensation program.
  • Ability to examine and evaluate data relating to the workers’ compensation program.
  • Ability to supervise and to train staff.
  • Ability to determine work priorities, assigns work, and ensures proper completion of work assignments.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
  • Ability to solve problems arid to make decisions.
  • Ability to work independently and to prioritize work.


BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
This is a highly technical and responsible position involving the direct management and supervision of adjusting staff assigned to handle lost time claims in the Bureau of State Employee Workers’ Compensation Claims within the Division of Risk Management. This position will also adjust claims.
