Overview:
The Florida Gaming Control Commission is responsible for exercising all regulatory and executive powers of the state with respect to legal gaming, including pari-mutuel wagering, cardrooms, slot machine facilities, oversight of gaming compacts, and other forms of gambling authorized by state law, excluding the Lottery, as well as directly enforcing Florida’s gaming laws and combatting illegal gambling activities.
The agency is overseen by five Commissioners who are appointed by the Governor, with the Commissioners appointing an Executive Director who leads a team of nearly 200 staff members. The mission of the Florida Gaming Control Commission is to preserve and protect the integrity of gaming activities through fair regulation, licensing, effective criminal investigation, and enforcement.
The Division of Gaming Enforcement is a criminal justice agency comprised of sworn law enforcement officers and criminal intelligence analysts handling complex cases involving RICO, money laundering, and illegal gambling throughout the state.

Position Duties and Responsibilities:
The Administrative Assistant – Forfeiture Litigation provides high-level administrative and legal support to the Office of the General Counsel related to the Commission’s civil asset forfeiture cases and interagency agreements.
This position will:

Ensure smooth coordination between internal legal teams and external law enforcement agencies;

Track the status of litigation, drafts, and reviews memoranda of understanding (MOUs) and;

Support the overall organization and compliance of forfeiture-related processes.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Experience as a legal assistant or paralegal;
- Experience working with the criminal justice system (i.e., Public Defender/State Attorney/Police or Sheriff’s Office);
- Experience with drafting or reviewing legal pleadings;
- Experience with filing documents with the court system;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and case management software;
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines;
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion;
- Ability to research and analyze complex issues and;
- Ability to convey practical and thoughtful advice.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a legal assistant or paralegal.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with the criminal justice system (i.e., Public Defender/State Attorney/Police or Sheriff’s Office).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree.
- Knowledge of legal terminology, court procedures, and civil litigation process preferred.
- Familiarity with the civil asset forfeiture laws and procedures.
- Prior experience working with interagency agreements or governmental MOUs.
- Experience liaising with law enforcement or public safety agencies.
