Duties and Responsibilities
This position provides administrative support to the Bureau of Administrative Reviews (BAR), within the Office of General Counsel. The Bureau of Administrative Reviews conducts administrative review hearings for driver license reinstatements. This position provides excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders and performs the day-to-day administrative tasks of the office to maintain efficient operations. Duties and responsibilities include: Communicating with customers, employees, and other individuals to answer questions, identify needs, and explain processes. Answering telephones, directing calls, and taking messages. Collecting and reviewing documentation to prepare packets for hearings. Processing public record requests. Maintaining a filing system, maintaining office supplies, and handling incoming and outgoing mail.Collecting fees and billing customers to adhere to statutory guidelines.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar usage.
- Skill in operating a personal computer, including Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, and Excel) and SharePoint.
- Skill in providing customer service to diverse clientele in a tactful, courteous, and non-judgmental manner.
- Skill in communicating effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Skill in typing and performing data entry.
- Skill in scheduling and maintaining office calendar and appointments.
- Skill in operating a multi-line telephone.
- Ability to problem solve and make sound decisions.
- Ability to calculate fees and maintain record of financial debits and credits.
- Ability to organize and maintain filing systems.
- Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Ability to effectively handle multiple priorities and assignments.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with the following:
- Two or more years of experience in customer service.
- One or more years of experience performing administrative tasks in an office setting.
- Applicants who are multi-lingual (ability to speak and read a foreign language).
Job Related Requirements
- Occasional travel may be required.
- This position also requires the incumbent to have a high school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.). Applicant must bring a copy of this document to the scheduled interview to proceed with the selection process.
- This position requires the incumbent to have and maintain a valid driver’s license in good standing. This means there can be no cancellations, suspensions, or revocations for a minimum of three years prior to employment and for the duration of employment. There can be no more than three chargeable crashes or any violation of Chapter 316, Florida Statutes, during any consecutive three-year period prior to and throughout employment.
- The position you are applying is subject to a Level 2 background and CJIS security clearance, to include fingerprinting as a condition of employment pursuant to Chapter 110.1127, 435 and 943, Florida Statutes. As an applicant for positions requiring CJIS security clearance, you are required to disclose criminal records that have been sealed or expunged.
General Information
- The elements of the selection process may include a skill assessment and/or oral interview.

Fingerprints and associated information/biometrics will be retained in the FBI’s Next Generation Identification (NGI) system and fingerprints may continue to be compared against fingerprints submitted to or retained by NGI.
- FLHSMV employees are paid once a month on the last workday of each month. All state employees are required to participate in the direct deposit program pursuant to s. 110.113 Florida Statutes.
