We are looking for people who are organized, who possess excellent computer and typing skills, are willing to learn public assistance policies and can engage with customers/citizens of Florida in a call center environment. 

 

The primary function of this position is providing clerical services related to public assistance eligibility in a call center setting. The work performed includes explaining eligibility of applicants and recipients of public assistance programs, determining eligibility for expedited Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) services, entering client data into a database based on intake of caller information, maintaining necessary files and records. This career consists primarily of phone interactions with customers.  

Incumbents in this position report to the office, this is not a telework position. 

The full-time work schedule is 40 hours per week, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm EST, Monday through Friday.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Must be a current DCF Employee. 

  • At least six (6) months working as a Contact Center Interviewing Clerk-OPS team member. 

  • Two (2) years of experience in clerical activities or public contact experience. 

  • Must have the ability to attend a two to four-week mandatory paid training course. 

  • Bi-lingual in Creole or Spanish preferred. 

Additional Information/Requirements:   

  • Incumbents may be expected to work during emergency situations or natural disasters. 

  • Employees are required to work from the official office location with the potential to work remotely based on demonstrated satisfactory performance, and tenure. 

  • The position will perform all job tasks in accordance with laws, rules, regulations, policies, and requirements applicable to state and federal laws or procedures. 

 

What you will do:  

Contact Center Interviewing Clerk – Virtual Intake Unit (VIU) 

The typical duties include: 

  • Answers calls to conduct abbreviated interviews for the purpose of collecting and updating required information on applicants and recipients and their household members for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance program (SNAP/Food Assistance)  

  • Requests all additional information/verification required to establish or continue eligibility for public assistance programs. Ensures electronic case records are documented thoroughly and properly.  

  • Educates customers on the benefits and features of My ACCESS Account including account set-up and password resets.  

  • Assists customers with completing Telephonic Applications.  

  • Assists customers with referrals to other agencies and community resources. 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  

  • Communicate with others to obtain and verify information concerning eligibility. 

  • Knowledge and application of the policies, procedures, laws and programs governing the agency. 

  • Ability to speak clearly and correctly, and to communicate with others to obtain and verify information concerning eligibility. 

  • Detect and evaluate potential fraudulent situations. 

  • Analyze and interpret written, numerical, and verbal data from various sources. 

  • Enter data accurately into a computerized system. 

  • Navigate through computer screens. 

  • Complete and review basic computer documents and other forms. 

  • Knowledge of basic arithmetic. 

  • Prepare, clear, concise and accurate records and other documentation. 

  • Ability to deal with the public in a tactful, courteous and effective manner. 

  • Be proficient in the use of the computer including exceptional typing skills.
