<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">This position requires a valid Class B driver's license with an acceptable driving record in accordance with the Department's Driver's Record Requirements Policy. An unacceptable driving record is defined as any of the following:

  1. <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">three (3) or more moving violations in the past 3 years that accumulate 3 or more points per violation;
  2. <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">any 2 convictions of reckless driving in the past 3 years;
  3. <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">a suspension or revocation of the driver's license for moving violations in the past 3 years; and
  4. <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">a suspension or revocation for refusal to take a sobriety test, or any suspension or revocation for a DUI conviction <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">in the past 4 years

<span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">POSITION DESCRIPTION: <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Operates vehicles and a variety of small and medium equipment that may include, but not limited to; front end loader, skid steer loader, grader, lift equipment, tractor trailer, drainage vacuum truck, small bulldozer and asphalt repair truck while performing bridge and roadway maintenance; Performs minor maintenance and servicing work in connection with any type of equipment operated and assists in the repairs of this equipment; checks and adds fluids, checks/adjusts brakes, maintains proper air pressure in all tires, etc. Cleans and washes equipment.

<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Uses a variety of hand, pneumatic, and electrical tools to maintain bridges and roadways.  Performs independent manual labor incidental to job assignments with minimal supervision.

<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Performs tree trimming, rough carpentry, masonry, painting and/or assists in the assembly and erection of highway signs.

<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Performs Temporary Traffic Control (Maintenance of Traffic).    Assists with crew activity reports as needed.

<span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">OTHER JOB RELATED REQUIREMENTS: <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Due to the nature of this position, incumbent must respond to emergencies.  While on-duty status, the positions incumbent must be readily available to operate a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV), consistent with the type of Commercial Driver's License (CDL) the incumbent is required to possess, or on a routine basis performs other CMV safety-sensitive functions.  The incumbent of this position is required to work with or around Department of Corrections inmates. Obtains certification in Temporary Traffic Control (Maintenance of Traffic) - Intermediate Level within one year and maintains .  Valid Class "B" CDL Instructional Permit is is required with air brakes is required.

<span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif"> <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Requires one year of experience in the operation of heavy equipment. Possess a valid Class "B" CDL Instructional Permit is required at time of hire. A valid Class "B" CDL with air brakes is required within 180 days of hire and maintain it.
