Job Description

This is professional and highly responsible work conducting legal research activities for a Judge of a District Court of Appeal. Work involves considerable interpretation and judgment in the analysis of a variety of legal issues brought before the court. Working relationships are established primarily with judges, other law clerks, the Clerk and secretarial staff within the court. Work is performed under the direction and general supervision of a Judge and is reviewed in progress as required and upon completion.

Education and Training Guidelines

Graduation from an accredited law school with excellent academic standing; Law Review, journal, or significant law school writing and editing experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

This position requires an attorney who has excellent research, writing, and editing skills. The attorney will be required to prepare in-depth analyses on a variety of legal issues and must be able to present ideas orally and in writing to the judges of the court. Time management skills and the ability to work effectively with others are crucial.  All attorneys at the court must maintain confidentiality, exercise discretion, and handle matters honestly and impartially. This position is for a two year maximum term.

**Position classification and beginning salary will be based on experience. (Increases to the minimum salaries are currently pending before the Supreme Court).
Law Clerk/Senior Law Clerk/Career Attorney


  • Entry level Law Clerk $3,818.10 (Monthly)  $3,436.29 (Monthly - Applicants who have not yet passed the Florida Bar)
  • Senior Law Clerk (at least 2 years’ experience in the practice of law, subsequent to passing the Florida Bar exam)  $4,465.48 (Monthly)
  • Career Attorney (at least 5 years’ experience in the practice of law, subsequent to passing the Florida Bar Exam) $4,967.25 (Monthly)
