SPECIAL NOTES:
A high school diploma or its equivalent required.
Additional requirements:
- Possession of a Fire Inspection Certification FS 633.081 within 12 months of employment.
- Valid Florida driver’s license.
- Experience using Microsoft software products, Word, Excel, Outlook.
- Experience compiling and analyzing data.
- Experience creating reports.
Preference:
- Experience conducting or preparing public outreach programs.
This position will be filled at the base salary of $33,760.00 which is non-negotiable.
Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.
This position requires a security background check, including fingerprint as a condition of employment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
Under supervision, performs initial fire safety inspections and equipment, component, machinery, and buildings. When significant violations are found the inspection is turned over to higher authority for further investigation. Aids in the enforcement of all laws under the jurisdiction of the State Fire Marshal relating to the prevention of fires. Assist with investigations into the cause and circumstances of fires, and reports violations of appropriate fire safety rules to a Fire Protection Specialist Supervisor. Assist in the inspection and approval of new construction and renovations prior to occupancy. Helps verify that construction materials and methods meet safety performance standards, fire protection codes, and manufacturer’s specifications. Assist in the investigations into the circumstances of fires, for the purpose of determining the adequacy of codes and fire safety standards, and the effect compliance or non-compliance had on the fire. Conducts research of code requirements and help prepare written reports on fire safety inspections. Compiles and analyzes data. Collects data to assemble regional, monthly and reports to be submitted by the 3rd working day of each month. Transcribe notes, prepares and types letters, prioritizes incoming and outgoing office correspondence, memorandums and reports technical subject matter. Maintains liaison with key personnel who are involved with fire protection in order to keep informed of the latest concerns, techniques, and developments in the field of fire safety. Receives complaints of fire safety violations and helps investigate the compliant under the supervision of a Fire Protection Specialist Supervisor. Provides assistance to the public, other state government agencies and other agencies such as fire departments and law enforcement departments. Interprets established policies and provides the information for the resolution of problems.
Assist in Educational training programs for local fire services, state agencies, private industry, and the general public.
Provides some administrative and logistical support to office staff within a region office. Prepares replies for routine documents, tracks, and ensures response in a timely manner. Coordinates travel arrangements and processes paperwork in a timely manner. Operates and/or utilizes a variety of standard office machines and computer equipment and software.
Arranges material for supervisor’s use in public speaking or classroom presentation.
Performs other duties as assigned.
