The Work You Will Do:

RIGHT OF WAY SUPPORT ADMINISTRATOR / DISTRICT RIGHT OF WAY

 

This position will support FDOT’s mission by ensuring effective management of state-owned properties and compliance with laws, rules, and policies. This position oversees property activities, monitors quality control, and ensures accurate data entry in the Right of Way Management System. It also manages property management contracts and interacts daily with the public, representing FDOT in all communications while coordinating with local governments to maintain statewide standards.

Your Specific Responsibilities:

Supervises employees; plans, organizes, coordinates, and schedules assigned work for employees. Participates in applicant selection and hiring process. Provides employee orientation and training and prepares employee performance evaluations. Coordinates and directs the activities in the discipline of Property Management. Ensures and monitors a Quality Control Program. Ensures data is entered into the Right of Way Management System (RWMS). Reviews and approves invoices.

Procures consultant services. Coordinates and directs the activities of right of way consultant.

Interprets and communicates right of way policies and procedures. Ensures conformance with applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Assists in the development of policies and procedures.

Represents Right of Way at public meetings/hearings and workshops, and similar forums. Monitors, trains and assists local governments.

Responds to public records requests and related inquiries. Coordinates with other offices to address and resolve issues.

 

The Successful Candidate will have the following required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

 

Knowledge of:

  • The process to demolish a structure.
  • Supervisory principles and practices.
  • Contract management.

Skills in:

  • Verbal and written communication.
  • Effective planning, organizing, and coordinating of work assignments.
  • Solving problems and making decisions.
  • The use of personal computers, including a working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software.

Ability to:

  • Interpret and apply Florida Department of Transportation right of way policies, procedures, regulations and statutes.
  • Interpret and apply federal rules and regulations.
  • Meet schedules in a timely manner.
  • Deal with the public in a tactful and courteous manner.
  • Read right of way maps.
  • Maintain successful working relationships and perform as a team player.
  • Obtain certification as asbestos management planner and inspector.
  • Supervise people.

 

Other Job-Related Requirements:

  • This position is responsible for adhering to the provisions and requirements of Section 215.422, F.S. related State Comptroller's rules and Department of Transportation's invoice processing and warrant distribution procedures.
