Public Defender for the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit

The Hillsborough County Public Defender is currently recruiting for an executive level Administrative Assistant.  Qualified applicants will be expected to provide high-level administrative and legal assistant support as well as the ability to perform a variety of complex tasks requiring independent judgment/action and make frequent decisions in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.  Tasks include criminal casework including: scheduling hearings, filing pleadings, maintaining electronic case files and coordinating depositions as well as other clerical functions such as handling confidential information, preparing correspondence, receiving visitors, answering phone inquiries, scheduling meetings, maintaining calendars, and preparing meeting notes or minutes. In addition to clerical duties and responsibilities, active participation in community service events, internal employee motivation activities, and office related functions is essential to the position.

Applicants must also communicate effectively, professionally and have excellent computer/technology skills.  3-5 years prior experience as a mid-to senior-level legal assistant or related experience as an administrative assistant and post-secondary education preferred.
