Intake Client Interviewer – ($45,000 - $50,000)

 

The Office of the Public Defender, 13th Judicial Circuit, is seeking entry level support staff to perform intake interviews with potential clients at the jail before first appearance court. Candidates must be proficient in reading and writing, excellent communicators, and consistently present and on time to perform these duties. A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required due to daily travel between Orient Road Jail, Falkenburg Road Jail, and our offices located in downtown Tampa. Bilingual is a plus.

 

Your specific duties include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Perform all duties as directed by the Public Defender.
  • Perform all duties as assigned by the Intake Bureau Chief.
  • Arrive at Orient Road Jail (ORJ) and begin Intake Interviews and Paperwork collection, Affidavit of Indigency (AIS) and the Invocation of Rights Forms (IOR) no later than 7:30 am.
  • Communicate any issues to the Intake Bureau Chief.
  • Annotate bond factors on the prepped daily docket and email ORJ data file to PDIntakeAtty.
  • After ORJ interviews are completed, report to the Falkenburg Road Jail (FRJ) Video Courtroom 1 to conduct Intake Interviews and paperwork collection at FRJ in preparation for the 1:30 First Appearance Court Docket. 
  • Annotate bond factors on the prepped daily docket and email FRJ data file to PDIntakeAtty.
  • Process the AOI and IORs from both ORJ and FRJ after court timely each day.
  • Communicate interviews as well as any client issues with the Intake Bureau attorneys via the PDIntakeAtty group.
  • Fulfill reasonable requests for signed documents by the Office of the Public Defender staff/attorneys.
