JOB SUMMARY:

This is Senior Appraiser position is within the Florida Department of Revenue's Property Tax Oversight Program. This program provides oversight to the 67 elected property appraisers throughout the state of Florida. This work consists of appraising real property to determine its just market value for assessment purposes in accordance with prescribed guidelines. Examples of work includes conducting field inspections of real property, vacant and improved, writing, and submitting USPAP compliant appraisal reports, verifying sales, data collection and interviewing parties familiar with various properties, such as contractors, grantors, grantees, and real estate agents. Candidates must be detailed oriented, have excellent communication skills, a strong writing ability, time management skills and problem-solving skills, and must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

This position is eligible for telework.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have a minimum of four years of single-property or mass appraisal experience, including inspecting and valuing real properties such as commercial, or industrial properties.
  • Experience collecting and analyzing large quantities of sale, income, and expense data.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel to compile, interpret, analyze, and display validation data.
  • Experience in the application of multiple approaches to value and proper appraisal methodology.

SUBSTITUTIONS:

  • College degree in Real Estate or closely related field can substitute for one year of experience.

PREFERENCES:

  • Florida State-Certified Real Estate Appraiser, Residential or General.
  • Registered Trainee Designation.
  • College degree and some appraisal training toward becoming a State-Certified Appraiser.
  • Professional real estate appraisal designation (such as CFE).
  • Completed any formal real estate appraisal education program (such as IAAO, AI).
  • Work experience in mass appraisal.

SPECIAL NOTES:

  • State-Certified Residential Appraisers will receive a $1,200 annual stipend.
  • State Certified General Appraisers will receive a $2,500 annual stipend.
  • Personal transportation is required to and from work and in the performance of assigned responsibilities.
  • The is real estate appraisal work, requiring inspections to be performed in various weather conditions.
  • Appraisal Training, appraisal education and a path to obtain a state-certified license in available within our Program for qualified candidates.
  • Travel is required.
  • Outside employment may be allowed i.e.: residential appraisals

SALARY: $58,963.20.
