HIRING SALARY RANGE:      $3,232.59 - $4,183.35 / biweekly salary  

      $84,047.36 - $108,767.17 / annual salary 

 

ANTICIPATED BIWEEKLY SALARY: $3,831.42 

A Competitive Area Differential (CAD) additive in the amount of $478.40 will be added to the annual salary.

The Work You Will Do: 

Skyway Project Manager I / District Seven / Director of Trans Operations / District Maintenance / Districtwide Bridge Inspection & Repair  

 

This position will Performs advanced engineering work and/or design serving as the supervisor for the Sunshine Skyway project management group in the District Structures Maintenance section. Performs project management including research, documentation, design, field investigations, estimate preparations, project development, contract administration and construction support. Reviews, signs and seals contract documents for in-house structures repair or rehabilitation projects. Supervise employees, including communicating with, motivating, training, planning and directing employee’s work.

Your Specific Responsibilities: 

Performs design project management duties including design contract management, monitors annual work program budget. Coordinates with consultants and others to maintain unit’s production. Oversees Asset Maintenance projects. Assures scope compliance and invoice accuracy. Reviews, signs and seals contract documents for in-house structures repair or rehabilitation projects. 

 

Performs engineering studies and evaluations. 

 

Coordinate the inspection of all planned future structure work to comply with all hazardous materials, abatement and notification procedures. 

 

Perform technical work in analyzing existing bridge structures for design of repair projects. Establish methods and techniques for repair plan preparation. Review permit requests involving utilities attached to a bridge or other structures. 

 

Monitor bridge projects from beginning to completion. Monitor structural deficiencies during the design phase, attend pre-bid and pre-construction meetings and support construction. 

 

Prepare design contract documents (specifications, technical special provisions, cost estimate, etc.). Perform cost estimates. 

 

Maintain and update bridge history on contract bid items, as-built plans for repair, modification and structural deficiencies. Maintain and update inventory of bridge location maps. 

 

Prepare plans and specifications for emergency repairs done by state forces. 

 

The Successful Candidate will have the following required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

 

Knowledge of: 

  • Civil/Structural engineering 
  • Traffic Control Manual and the Uniform Standards for highway and streets 
  • Bridge specifications and roadway standards 

 

 Skills in

  • Supervision and management of consultant contracts for design/rehabilitation of bridges 
  • Rate negotiations and Man-hour estimates for consultant work efforts 
  • Record keeping 
  • Scheduling a project from beginning of preliminary engineering to completion of construction 
  • Oral communication and in the preparation of written documents. 

 Ability to: 

  • Correctly use English grammar and punctuation 

 

Licensure/Registration/Certification Requirements: 

  • Registered as a professional engineer in accordance with Chapter 471 of Florida Statutes. 

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Registered as a professional engineer in accordance with Chapter 471 of Florida Statutes.
